Ok so there’s a path, but it’s a path that goes straight through the weeds, all the power structure, entrenched politicians and big money interests... basically it’s never happened and will never happen.

Meanwhile, the grand majority of people want term limits. All I’m saying is that we can make this happen simply by warning the parties before the next primaries that termed out Congress people won’t be getting our votes. That gives them time to get it right. Some might if the movement got enough traction. Others would ignore and some of them would lose. The parties would take notice and the next election would include far fewer termed out politicians.
It could be a de facto thing. And eventually it could become a law.

Won't happen, but a more powerful 3rd party that could grab 20% on average in every state would by default eliminate career politicians in the same seat, house or senate. Sure there would still be some seats that are locks for one person, but it would greatly reduce the number of these fucking leeches.

Agree with the methodology of making this an informed voter agreement/pact and not a law. As every so often a rep/senator comes along that has the constitution primarily in mind, and you would want to keep that individual working as long as they represent you or your state effectively and don’t kowtow to paid interests and other bullies. One such individual I am referring to is Rand Paul, I’m sure there are a few others that fit this description as well though.

Last time when I was reading about CA term limits (Santa Clara County) the term limit was increased.

There's two reasons people are in an elected position for decades upon decades.

1) They come from a district that has a disengaged uninformed Voting bloc. The party forces only entices their voter base to participate, when there's a boogey man they are trying to not let win. They call it the most important election in their lifetime. Of course preserving democracy will also mean preserving the party token in that district and reelect him/her/zer.

2) The candidate is a quite able representative for that district and the politician has delivered for his base time and time again. There isn't anyone better in that district that can carry what he does.

In both cases, there's a 99% chance that if they had term limits and couldn't run in the next election. A far worse grifter would be there to fill their shoes.
Just imagine George Soros throwing money at every election where a popular politician that has served for years, can no longer run.
Today there isn't any grooming, to build upon great politician's legacies to have someone pick up the torch and carry on.
Look at DeSantis he squandered his legacy, instead of building a Statewide coalition of strong Conservative candidates to flip Dade, Broward, Jacksonville and Tampa solid Red. He's trying his damndest to dethrone Trump as the King of Old Glory.
I fear when DeSantis' term is over, the person with the most brand recognition to win the next Gov election will be Andrew Gillium, the puking gay party druggie, that he narrowly beat out to win his first term.

Until voters are more engaged, and the current good politicians are doing what it takes to train the next replacements, I say leave it alone. Pulling them out because of some term limit is just dumb.

There should be a moral and cognitive test though. If they can't pass a cognitive test and ethics struggle session scrum. Then they shouldn't be allowed to run.

One of the last lucid conversations I had with my mother she asked me, in front of several extended family members, including young nephews, what I thought about the government. I told her I believe the government is a legalized criminal organization. This was about 3 years ago.
