California’s budget deficit has skyrocketed to $68 billion mainly due to months of unexpectly low tax revenues, according to a new analysis from the Legislative Analyst’s Office released on Thursday.

The latest deficit figure far exceeds the $14.3 billion estimate from June, according to Politico. The shortfall could potentially lead “Gov. Gavin Newsom and lawmakers to make spending cuts on a scale that few term-limited elected officials in Sacramento have faced” during the next legislative year, the report said.

I live in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles County. Likely one of the nicest places to live in the nation, or at least it was. Multiple murders, home invasion robberies, mall takeovers, and random violent brutal assaults along with an overflow of homeless from City of Los Angeles have rendered it no longer the case. In particular a recent brutal murder of a woman in her 60’s out walking her dog by a transient with a sledge hammer, has local Nextdoor abuzz.

My wife saves all ours (and they're free). We have a stinky teenager so he bags his soccer cleats in his backpack so it doesn't transfer the awful smell to his jersey or locker and he gets known as the smelly kid. No joking, he's not allowed to keep his cleats in the house anymore. I'm fine as an adult, but it must be something genetic with stinky feet. You have to drive the pilings/steel at least 20' and even that might not be enough if you do it right. Each one is an easy $50k. Probably need 15 on that house. Houses are too close so I'm not sure you can get a crane in there anyway.

I don't get what engineers were thinking. You don't even have to be that close to a cliff to understand what is going to happen, even if you're not an engineer. Problem is people that see this type of stuff will scream global warming.

You built a house or bought a house on a soil cliff. Just because it is temperate with little rain doesn't mean earth doesn't erode at some point. That pool is toast too. So there's another $150k and insurance likely won't cover it or they'll drop you. That's a $2M job all day.
