Trump picks North Dakota governor to lead Interior

The move puts Trump’s one-time primary rival in charge of the department.

President-elect Donald Trump said he plans to nominate North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, a one-time rival for the Republican presidential nomination, to run the Interior Department and help steer the energy policy he’s pledged will drive up oil and gas drilling.

“We’re going do things with energy and with land — Interior — that is going to be incredible,” Trump told an audience at Mar A Lago. Bergum “is going to head the Department of Interior and he’s going to be fantastic.”

Burgum became wealthy from selling his software company, a factor that helped him create a relationship with Trump, who considered Burgum as a potential 2024 running mate.

If confirmed by the Senate, Burgum would manage the more than 500 million acres of federal land as well as the fossil fuels and minerals that lie beneath the surface — making him a critical component in Trump’s promise to boost oil and gas output.

Burgum will have a part in crafting policies that deliver on Trump’s promise to “drill, baby, drill”: leasing out federal land for oil, natural gas and coal development and setting safety standards for offshore oil rigs.

But Trump’s love of energy has not extended to renewable energy projects, something which the Biden administration sought to prioritize on public land. Trump is likely to push Burgum to scale back or end many of the Biden efforts to set up vast wind farms off the East Coast and other renewables on public lands.

During Trump’s first term, his administration sought to roll back rules on rig safety, climate change and Endangered Species Act protections in attempts to make things as easy as possible for oil companies to drill on public land. With Trump’s most recent talk of oil being “liquid gold” and that crude production would be four or five times higher under him than Biden, many agency observers expect the former president to look for new ways to remove regulatory speedbumps the current administration has put in place.

North Dakota is the third-largest oil-producing state in the country and also has more than 4 million acres under federal oversight. As governor, Burgum promoted carbon capture technologies to bring down greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel production and other industrial activities.

That approach lends itself to Trump’s vision of boosting fossil fuel production, but also pursuing other technology to reduce environmental degradation, said Collin O’Mara, CEO of environmental group National Wildlife Federation.

“I think he’ll be a very strong champion of the energy dominance agenda,” said O’Mara. “But in North Dakota, he tried to find some level of balance to make sure that important conservation areas, important areas for tourism, weren’t harmed in the process.”

Other environmental groups criticized Trump’s choice, saying Burgum lacked the experience outside the fossil fuel industry to steward the public lands.

In North Dakota, Interior’s Bureau of Land Management oversees 58,000 acres of surface land and 4.1 million acres of mineral estate. BLM has jurisdiction over about 2,500 federal oil and gas leases and has trust responsibility on more than 3,000 on the Fort Berthold Reservation and Turtle Mountain Tracts in the state’s northern region.

“Doug Burgum comes from an oil state, but North Dakota is not a public lands state,” Jennifer Rokala, executive director for the conservation group Center for Western Priorities, said in a statement.

“His cozy relationship with oil billionaires may endear him to Donald Trump, but he has no experience that qualifies him to oversee the management of 20 percent of America’s lands.”

The swamp is livid over Tulsi.

Saying the Lt. Col of Civil Affairs unit attached to Spec Ops, who served 4 terms, was on Homeland Sec. and Foreign Affairs committee isn't qualified.

Just a reminder: Almost all of Europe, and the vast majority of all countries in the world, do NOT fluoridate I guess their government medical experts and lawmakers aren't as expert as American ones, and only our "Experts" see the Holy Truth of Fluoridating Water.

So...Fauci's $15 million security detail is being paid from the HHS Department, which is gonna be led by RFK, whom Biden refused a security detail for.

Who's gonna get credit for improving the budget ???? Is it DOGE or RFK ????

Don't drink water. Boom.

What do you think has kept civilization alive without filtration of water? Alcohol, mead, vodka, etc. No one on this forum exists without booze. Look at population growth. We didn't have clean water supplies in the early 1900's. Then finally got mostly clean supplies.

And yes, I still drink water, but it has to be from a trusted source. I like my town but the amount of chlorine was what I put in a pool to keep it clear. Chlorine is bleach. Throw in fluoride. Call me crazy but alcohol sounds the lesser evil.

Mexico tomorrow and will be brushing my teeth with bottled water. Bad water can kill people. Trace substances or bacteria. Never had a drop of water in Mexico or the Caribbean and never had a problem. Alcohol, beer for me, kills anything sitting in a can/bottle.

I don't disagree.

Did you know that Europe has experienced the same reduction in tooth decay/cavity issues in the past 50 years as the US, when European water is 97% unfluoridated?

Fluoride is a waste product of aluminium smelting. Putting it in water is just a trick to get the public to pay for what would have to be disposed of as waste.

Kennedy is a kook and should not be in charge of any department, anywhere. I hope he doesn't get confirmed.
64   AmericanKulak   2024 Nov 15, 8:27am

The fake Establishment Pro-Life groups are back in action to prevent Trump reforms for their powerful donors: this time using RFK. "He's not 100% anti-abortion". RFK is a 20-weeker. Compared to the current occupant he's night and day.

The establishment controlled Pro-Life groups were already looking shady in the weeks before the election.

They're confirming that suspicion with their loud anti-JFK stance.

Kennedy wants to fire a bunch of government workers, that's all I care about. If not him then someone else who will do the same thing (and have Kennedy on staff).

I really like Kennedy because he's the only one telling the truth about vaccines.

He was smeared as a kook by the mockingbird media, but you'll know he's not if you read what he writes or listen to him speak without the CIA distortion filter.

Kennedy, one hardly needs reminding, is a lifelong Democrat. He believes in manmade climate change and strict gun control. When the Times cries over his ‘unorthodox’ views, all Kennedy’s intersecting areas of common progressive interests count for absolutely nothing. The fact that caused the Times and the rest of DC’s utter panic over Trump’s win, the fact that sent vaccine stock prices straight downwards, is the fact that Robert Kennedy has called for vaccines to be tested like all other drugs are.

Gaetz's nomination, however, still has to be confirmed by the Senate, and even with a GOP majority in the upper chamber of Congress in the new term, there could be some obstacles in confirming his position. Republicans secured 53 Senate seats after last week's election. Democrats, along with two independents, hold 47.

"I'm all about counting votes, and I would think that he's [Gaetz] probably got some work cut out for him," North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis said on Wednesday. "We're not going to get a single Democrat."

The Senate often confirms a president's Cabinet nominees without hesitation. But Trump has already demanded that the new GOP majority break with tradition and allow recess appointments, meaning that the president-elect's nominees could bypass a Senate confirmation hearing.

"Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments (in the Senate!), without which we will not be able to get people confirmed in a timely manner," Trump posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

"Sometimes the votes can take two years, or more," he added. "This is what they did four years ago, and we cannot let it happen again. We need positions filled IMMEDIATELY!"

Presidents are given the authority under Article II of the Constitution to make appointments "by and with the advice and consent of the Senate." But if the Senate is out of session, the steps by lawmakers to confirm such appointments, such as committee hearings and a chamber vote, are bypassed.

According to an analysis from ABC News, which cited the Congressional Research Service, former President Barack Obama made 32 recess appointments, ex-President George W. Bush made 171 and former President Bill Clinton made 139 while the Senate was on recess.

This is similar to the lunacy of women, gays, and transgenders decrying all the “rights” they will lose and dangers they will supposedly encounter with a Trump presidency. I actually had a cousin block me and refuse to speak to me because a couple people posted danger they supposedly encountered right after the 2016 election in response to her histrionic posting on Trump on Facebook.. I called out the very obvious bs and she got offended and hasn’t had any communication with me in 8 years now. The left has zero tolerance whatsoever and their puppets in the media are the same. RFK Jr has some very good ideas and others worth exploring. To immediately screech in an effort to quiet him is…what’s the term I’m thinking of that the unhinged left always misuses regarding President Trump…..oh yeah, fascist(see that Marcus? How I used the word correctly?)

There's a serious Satanic cult amongst the beribboned MIC General fags in the Pentagon. They are the fat Göring analogs orchestrating the foreign slaughters from easy chairs and depraved comforts. They are happy participants of the Globalist schemes to undermine and destroy the Republic, because they are British mercenary class, and could give a fuck about the actual United States except as a vampiric feeding object.

It's the field commanders who are the sharp edge throughout the world and who are the battle guys. It is the field commanders that Trump presumably remained CIC over.

Maybe it's more like the actor(s) got reassurance that if they turned State's evidence, they might get reprieve or immunity. The Biden Actors have been squirrely from the perspective of the Deep State for several months now, with the one before the suddenly 'five inches taller' one reputedly killed for malfeasance. The part about Biden being mad at KamalaToe is pure soap opera.

Rose was revealed to have taken in millions of dollars, and sat on it, and spent less than a third of a million on operation costs and grants.
