Conclusions and Relevance This systematic review and meta-analysis found inverse associations and a dose-response association between fluoride measurements in urine and drinking water and children’s IQ across the large multicountry epidemiological literature.
as a kid, fluoride tablets were largely promoted to prevent caries. When I was about 8, after taking thousands of tablets, I had another tooth with a hole in it. Mom threw the box in the garbage. Years ago I stopped using fluoridated toothpaste, after reading alarming messages. Now, almost 60 years later, the science is catching up. Fluoride is a toxic waste product. Whoever came up with the idea of putting it in the drinking water is probably dead and cannot be held responsible anymore, but it is the highest time to get it back out. I also wonder about the bleach in drinking water. The town water is undrinkable to me, it smells and tastes of bleach. I suppose fluoride is tasteless and odourless. Thankfully most people hereabouts have a well (although that is not an insurance for safe water). Has the water in Europe been fluoridated? I have to look that up,
No, Belgium does not fluoridate its water supply, though legislation permits it. However, some areas of Belgium have naturally occurring fluoride in their water supplies and bottled waters, and about 40% of the population is exposed to fluoridated salt. Netherlands does not either. France and Portugal do not. Germany stopped in the 1970s. None of the Scandinavian countries nor Austria, Switzerland, Greece or Russia. Spain does in some areas. 10 % of the UK has fluoridated water. The mayority of Ireland has fluoride added... seems not very popular in Europe..
There are places where there is heavy naturally occurring flouride. You can often tell the people from those places because they have mottled (albeit less cavity prone) brown teeth. I think places in the Southwest have these naturally occurring flouride wells.
