Faux News again. Parent-child activities including dances are not banned, what changed is they are no longer restricted to opposite-sex pairs.
Read the link, it was from The Providence Journal, not Fox News (which, btw, is fair and balanced).
As I read it the R.I. state law IS banning (thanks edvard) Father Daughter dances.
I did read the link, it's Faux even though it isn't Fox. There is no ban against parent-child activities, including parent-child dances. And, since you insist on calling this tribal (Liberal vs Conservative), if "Conservatives" had their way there would be a ban on teaching science. I happen to know a widow in Rhode Island, and she has two young daughters; the "father-daughter" restriction would have banned her from taking them to the dance, but now she will be allowed.
I guess I must be a Liberal today, because I agree with he switch from gender specific dances to gender neutral. This broken world is hard enough on kids, and they are the most defenseless members of society. It makes me feel bad to think that a fatherless daughter would have her regrettable situation flaunted and make her feel worse. Or that a son who has lost his mother would be made to feel the pain more acutely. Maybe the parents are just deadbeat, mentally I'll, divorced and estranged, or just don't care like so many. The kids need to be protected. The law of unintended consequences applies here, either way you swing the mirror ball.
Quigley, what about all these kids who don't have parents - any dance with parents should be VERBOTTEN!
What about kids whose parents are poor? Make everyone wear the same uniform! zeek heil!
What about kids who are smarter? Dumb them down in the publiK sKool, forbade all analysis and thinking, and make the whole "learning" a discipline of memorization and repetition!
Oh gosh... the more I look at it the more I realize how Home Schooling is the ONLY option. At least until it's VERBOTTEN like they did in Germany.
So you lack the ability to extrapolate.
No harm, no foul....
I don't know what "Baned" is...
So "honest" abe, where is the words liberal or conservative in the article? Where does it say the state law was liberal? Could you please post the law and the information on which liberal wrote it? Didn't think so. It's a mystery how you arrived at this conclusion, would you like to give everyone the benefit of how you figured this out?
Bob - two things, first that stupid R.I. state law could only have come from liberals, conservatives don't have that type of brain damage, admit it. Lib's are the ones who lack common sense, you know - zero cause and effect thinking and a complete disregard of potential unintended consequences. A republican lawmaker voes to change the law.
Second - more disturbing news about the tragic results of liberal policies posted above. Unless you think this is positive news, and good for the country.
BO - the food stamp president - that stinks!
Vote NO on "O", he's got to GO.
you yawn a lot....
Sounds like you are ripe for the old folks home....
How so? Explain.
I think he's referring to me, but I've yet to petition the courts for a name change.....
How would you know, Dennis?
Who's Dennis?

Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances baned. Its only fair, after all how would Sally feel if she has two Mothers but no father? Who would she dance with??
The same would apply to Billy who had two Fathers but no mother. Who would he dance with??
Logical conclusion? Ban all dances of that type for everyone...after all, we wouldn't want one (one) liberal to feel slighted in any way, would we?
