I hate it when Millennials make Boomer and Gen-X memes. They always get it wrong.
Gen Xers weren't born until 1965, the Cuban missle crisis happened in 1962,. It was my middle school teachers, that first told me about when they were in School they hid under the desks. We weren't even born yet.

I'm an Xer.

I have fond memories of bomb drills in elementary school going to a padded room in the basement (padded for the wrestlers who practiced there - I was in a K-12 all in one building school). Other times we would go to a basement hallway and sit against the wall when the padded room was already full. I can't remember when that silly shit stopped but it was before sixth grade. In hindsight it is kind of funny how normalized it was for us.

Did you live in Hawaii? We did fire drills constantly which I don't think schools do much anymore. But no bomb drills where we got under the desks.

Good question. I lived in Honolulu for three years in the early 90's. Back then, we had these things called phone books.

I remember in the first part of the phone book was a detailed description of what action to take should the alarm go off for an incoming attack. Oahu has a HUGE military presence.

If my memory is correct, the instructions were mostly based around a nuclear attack. I never attended grade school in Hawaii, but maybe they did those kinds of drills.

As for me, I went to school in the Midwest, and mostly it was tornado drills. Occasionally a fire drill.

Yes, for me too, growing up in the Midwest, we had tornado drills and fire drills, but no nuclear attack drills.

Tornadoes were and are a real hazard there. I remember my mom opening the windows during violent weather when I was little in Chicago because she was afraid the house would blow up if a tornado went over it with the windows closed. And I've seen videos showing that that does happen, but I'm not sure opening the windows would make any difference.

It was really cool for a little kid though, feeling the wind rushing through the house and seeing things getting wet.

I remember that instruction too through television advisory announcements. Something like, "Crack open the windows so the pressure inside the house will not reach a dangerous/potentially explosive level."

Maybe people were just trying to help, but, c'mon, when a twister goes over a house, nothing is going to stop the destruction.

It would be difficult for me to count the number of times we were gathered in the basement playing cards or doing whatever (pre-internet days) waiting for a storm to pass while the sirens were sounding and listening to the threatening wind. Since we never actually got hit by a tornado it was kind of cool.

https://babylonbee.com/news/study-finds-100-of-men-would-eat-any-fruit-given-to-them-by-a-naked-woman?source=patrick.net

A double-blind study conducted by angel scientists has confirmed that 100% of men would eat any fruit given to them by a naked woman. The study seems to suggest that the fall of Adam and Eve was unavoidable.

"Our results were conclusive," said the angel Gabriel, who led the study. "Of the 30,000 male test subjects we studied, we found literally 100% of them would happily accept and eat any piece of fruit handed to them by a woman who was naked. Even in cases where it wasn't fruit—or even edible—all the males gratefully accepted every single object offered and ate it with a dumb look on their face."

Gabriel then motioned to a male test subject on the other side of the glass as he happily chewed on a rubber ball that had just been handed to him by a gorgeous unclothed woman.

"See what I mean?"

Researchers say the results should serve to humble any man who thinks he would have made a different decision than Adam. "According to the science, you would have likely done the exact same thing Adam did," said Gabriel.

Women around the world started to gloat upon hearing the news until Gabriel revealed they also conducted a study showing that 100% of women can be tricked by a talking snake.

I dunno, man: I wouldn't eat anything given to me by naked Hillary. I would probably die instantly from visual shock.

The article specifies beautiful naked woman later. They should have put that in the title.
