The stupidity of this country never ceases to shock me

OK, so I'm relaxing and watching an episode of South Park, a show that ridicules the ridiculous. Sometimes I think they make shit up, but it always turns out to be something that actually is happening. For example, when I saw the Jonas Brothers episode, I was like, there's no way that Disney is spraying metaphoric cum on the faces and chests of pre-teen and early teen girls. Turns out I was wrong.

Well, in this episode, they show an animate rendering of something called "Honey Boo Boo". So I search YouTube to find out what that is.

How the hell is this crap legal? It's borderline child abuse. No 6-year-old should be even thinking about money, nonetheless narcissistically strutting her fat ass for pedo-chubby-chasers. Personally, I think that all form of childhood beauty pageants are a form of child abuse and probably leaves psychological scars.

One of the things that really disgusts me about this is that it's on TLC, a channel that used to be called The Learning Channel and was one of the best channels on television, but now is the most despicable trashy "Ugly American" network. Oh, how it has fallen. Whoever is responsible for that should be castrated, shot, and slowly beheaded.

Now stands for "the loser channel." FYI, I also call LMN (lifetime movie network) "the ladies man-hating network" because the plot of their movies is Man Bad, Woman Good.

Movie Names:
Mother, may I sleep with danger? (stars Tory Spelling)
Date with darkness
Deadly encounter
Lying Eyes
Intimate stranger
The boy she met online
No surrender

But I digress... plots of TLC other programs:
Long Island Medium (A woman who can see into the future -wtf?)
Breaking Amish (removing young adults from the amish and putting them into impossible situations. Hotel in Mahatten! Modling contracts!)
I didn't know I was Pregnant (explanation not necessary)
Secret Princes (oh, my god! Princes from obscure countries come to America to compete for brides)
My Strange Addiction (people addicted to such everyday items as eating cleanser, tanning 3 times a day, puppet addicts)
Little Shop of Gypsies (another wtf moment)
Weddings shows where people compete or something galore... little girls parading about in the hopes of getting a tv show, etc.

Yep, TLC is teach us lots.

Soon to get his own teevee show?

4   Dan8267   2012 Oct 6, 10:19am

This thread is seriously making me think that people should have to get licenses to become parents. If people need licenses to fish, drive, get married, why not to have kids? The liberal in me says no, but these people make a damn good case that some people simply should not be allowed to become parents.

5   Raw   2012 Oct 6, 10:27am

We could also include a license requirement to let children read the Bible or the Koran. Ofcourse, that license should never be issued.

In a society that rewards celebusluts for videotaping sex with dirtbags by heaping great financial success upon them, the least of our worries has been allowing the parents of Honey Booboo to pop out more of them thar kiddies.

I'm just waiting for one of the children from the Duggar family to get their own show (after becoming popular for writing a tell-all book about leaving the cult).

Licenses are too intrusive. I was thinking something along the lines of fines and jail time.

Having worked in a maternity ward where we regularly called CPS to report meth babies, coke babies and parents who were so drunk/drugged that they received dui's before they got a block away from the hospital, I'd say this ain't a bad idea.

Except we should sterilize these people rather than put them in jail, where I'd have to pay for their room & board.

in our house, we call those kinds of channels (and they are legion) the Women Abuse Network.

Lifetime used to have some decent movies/mysteries.

Yeah, they tended to be about women stalked by testosterone crazed, criminal rage and abuse machines. All the other men tended to be gelded, sensitive boy toys, but, hey, every channel needs a theme song.

The rage machines always got taken down in the end, with the damsel crumbling in relief after a nice aerobic workout that must have been good for the glutes and abs, even if it came with a few bruises.

Everyone we know of all political stripes says we should have a whole house full of kids and we have none. Why? It's because the very idea of parenting out here in this cesspool scares the shit out of me.

It's not so much that a person would whore herself and her child for fame that surprises me. It's all the people who evidently watch this crap.

There's an awesome show called The Universe on The History Channel. I doubt it's ratings are anywhere near Honey Boo Boo.

Big, hairy rambunctious dog with huge paws + errant tennis ball = ellie with a black eye. Just happened, and it should be radiating lovely colors Monday morning as I give a professional presentation.

The Learning Channel and was one of the best channels on television

Ah but it is educational...
It's the Liberal media showing how the White guy is stupid and does stupid stuff.
Like catching catfish with their bare hands, hoarding garbage in their house piled all the way to the roof, red neck toddler trailer trash queens, Dumb ass 20 somethings selling a priceless heirloom that has been in their family since the 1800's to a pawn shop for a few hundred, so his wife can see Katy Perry.

All of those shows they are educational, it is educating America why America can't service 4 more years of Obama, when this is the way his propaganda ministry thinks of the people he is now with hat in hand expecting to vote for HIS sorry Ass.

25   lostand confused   2012 Oct 29, 12:07am

Not everything is political or the great liberal conspiracy. Sometimes it is just-follow the money trail. These shows give ratings ,as does Jerry Springer. I must confess, I do like some Jerry Springer from time to time and maury too. Maury is just - I have no words. Those women come up to the stage and say they believe that they know 110% that the guy is their baby daddy and then the DNA proves them wrong and they act all emotional and cry-theater at its most absurd!! But fun and reality. Ratings is what determines a show stays or not.

I don't think it is a recent phenomenon. Freak shows have always been part of history.

Look, I've criticized Obama far more than any right winger. The thing is, my criticism is based on reality, not fantasy.

just turn the damn thing off! throw it out!
save money!
the biggest joke is that you pay for the privilege to watch that crap, pbs included!
just get rid of the damn idiot box for good.
you don’t need it.
it needs you.
when the digital changeover happened, we just said no thanks.
what a relief to not have the thing blasting drivel shit in the living room anymore!

I thought the conservative position was that PBS should be de-funded because networks like TLC do such a good job of filling the educational niche.

31   Shaman   2012 Oct 29, 2:40am

I'm about ready to go along with coriacci and unsubscribe to cable. The kids can watch Netflix, they mostly do anyway and the shows they like are cute and/or educational. I like me some walking dead and dexter, but I don't have to watch it, and I'd be far more productive without it. Maybe I'd pay more attention to the wife too, and thus get more frequent booty. She's definitely a milf. There, that's convinced me!

Well for what it's worth, I've never ever heard a Republican say anything remotely close to suggesting such oppression. But it's becoming a recurring theme among Liberals these days. That is why when Libs want to pin their name on anything with "Parenthood" in it, it makes the rest of the Nation want to run for the nearest exit. In spite of the intentions behind it.

Even more shocking is the three Likes it got.

Scary thing is that the people most likely to have kids--and most likely to have the most kids--are people living in Honey Boo Boo country and The Ghetto. Intelligent, creative people tend more and more to have no/fewer children. The implications are staggering.

Hmmmm...Really?

Would you say that the deportation, torture and/or jailing of political opponents would be more oppressive? Because on this very board it is advocated (and not tongue-in-cheek like Dan's "oppressive" comment) by a "Republican" on this thread.

Or if that is not enough for you, how about the wholesale immediate executions of "most" of the people in prison, as advocated by a "Republican" here.
