Yep, an actual Nazi...

This gives me hope that Bush/Obama and all those committing atrocities today just might be brought to justice in the decades to come when they are no longer in with the powerful.

Of course I wasn't around back then. But if historical accounts and historical portrayals of both Hitler and Stalin are any indication.

Most of these guys had no choice but to follow orders of their supreme leader. And in the light of current portrayals of Hitler portrays him as a schizophrenic demented lunatic who would go off on unrelated rants, that would have nothing to do with the mission or topic at hand. And if you led on that you thought he was coming unhinged, he would have you hauled away and exposed of properly. If Hitler said kill a million Jews you better kill a million and two.

The Germans are the only ethnic group to have people bellow the top decision makers tried for atrocities. With African warlords, even today, the top Dictator is tried. The International community does not convict every single soldier who carried out their orders.

With all that in mind, I never got tracking down people in their late 70's and now 90's to hold them accountable for biggest lunatic the world has ever seen, actions from over 60 years ago.

yes its true, the Associated Press, the un-elected fourth branch of the government has already "judged" a person in the USA is actually a Nazi. So what happened to due process you talk about ?

shall we even go into the privacy and freedom issues here.. maybe they can go into Dan records and see what they could find ? You seem to fear Government and Big Corporate intrusion .. but I guess if its the Press.. it all OK by you

Amazing. If ignorance is bliss then you are orgasmic. Due process of law is for the law, not the press. If the press screws it up they can be sued for libel.

Since when is "the Press" not big corporations? AP, Murdoch, fox, bbc, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Turner, MSN are all small business according to you?

This guy should run for president on the GOP ticket in 2016.

He wouldn't pass the Tea Party litmus test.....no balls.

I have to agree.

Gunning down Jews and setting their families on fire won't play well with the Tea Party rank and file, as it hurts Israel and postpones Armageddon.

But, most important, we have no evidence that this man is sufficiently violent towards the poor. Would he cross the street to kick a homeless person? Would he throw acid in the face of a middle-class union worker? These are the lynchpins of Tea Party ideology.

What country regularly recognizes and celebrates Nazis?

Spain.

Teabagger assholes will hail this guy as a god and patriot.

I don't know what else he did besides what the article says, but many people did join up to specifically to fight against communism and/or Stalin's thuggery. In that respect he might be a patriot in Ukraine.

Goes down? Article just said he lives peacefully in Minnesota since the war was over, doesn't bother anyone. Fled the prosecution, which most Nazis did when they ran to Argentina. 1940's was a weird time, can't prosecute staff who participated anymore.

Not sure what is all this Nazi hunting thing lately on the news/movies. Clearly we as a nation have not done anything to be proud of since WW2. Because it seems that we have to constantly go back to 1940's just to feel good about something.

I say we black his eye, fucking Hitler lover.

Nothing makes us feel better than roughing up a 90 year old model citizen.

8   edvard2   2013 Jun 17, 6:52am

If this man was found to be guilty of the atrocities listed in the article, is it fair to do nothing only because he managed to hide for 70 years and not get caught? Sorry, but that's not how justice works. FortWayne says

No, it isn't "clearly" the case at all. I'm proud of my country. Sorry that you do not feel the same.

I'm patriotic, but I'm not proud. Pride goeth before a fall, good old biblical lesson there.

And what's there to take pride in exactly? NSA wiretapping us all, IRS beating down Americans, high unemployment, people pushed off to live in safety nets, senior poverty... what's there to take pride in? When your country is going down the tubes, it's not something to take pride in.

There's plenty of old bastards I wouldn't mind helping along their way to oblivion.

As far as we know!

Peacefully could mean nobody pinned any serious crimes on him. Could be a right rat-bastard anyhow.

Perhaps you could tell us when there was a time in America where there WASN'T some variety of problems, either past or present. Your assertion is over a status-quo that has always existed.

For the positives, well for starters most of the positives are things most Americans take for granted. Like being able to trash-talk whatever politician happens to be in power whereas in a lot of countries you'd be thrown in jail. That's one of many.

I can use myself as an example. I was not born into wealth. I started making $4.25 an hour and now I make an income that puts me in the upper percentile. I busted my ass and did well. I firmly believe that if you are willing to take a chance, bust your ass, and act intelligently you can do very well in this country.

Lastly, my relatives fought in the Civil war, WWI, WWII, and Vietnam. At the very least I feel that it is my duty to uphold my end of the bargain and that doesn't mean whining about living in a country that still has perhaps one of the highest standards of living in the world and an average lifestyle that most people in other countries would absolutely dearly love to have yet will never attain.

Plenty of people "bust their ass" and end up with shit to show for it at retirement. I no longer believe in the notion of America as a meritocracy.

You're apostasy in that particular fantasy is well-grounded.

I firmly believe that if you are willing to TAKE, kiss ass and ACT intelligently, you can fail surprisingly far upward in this country.
