I could see having one to use as a cutting tool. The blade never gets dull and never needs to be replaced, so what's not to like?

That truck exhaust pipe is plenty shiny. No reason the armor can't be too.

Yes but can they deliver the same range as a laser? I mean, can you slice through missionarieszombies on the sidewalk, from the comfort of your porch barbecue?

Why use a laser when there is a whole world of cheap, ultra reliable, high rate of speed, and proven lethal projectile weapons already available?

Yep, that will not only eliminate the missionaries zombies but a well designed harpoon can simultaneously gut and skewer the missionary zombie for ease of rotisserie.

Well, actually, it's kind of reserve for other uses. It gets lonely in the cannibal anarchy. Hard to find a mate that won't eat you.

I used to think that a phased plasma rifle in the 40W range would be a bit underpowered, but if this is a mere 2W laser, maybe you could do a lot of damage with 40W of directed energy.
