The news tonight showed video of the instructor leaning forward, helping the child shoot the gun. He appeared to let go and she continued to shoot (this took milliseconds) and the gun bucked up from the kick - then the video cut off so that we wouldn't have to see the dude get shot.

A couple of questions:

1) Why would a 9yo child need to shoot an Uzi?
2) If the family really wanted the kid to have the experience, couldn't she have played a video game so that there would be no kick?
3) Aren't there blanks that could have been used to provide the kid with the same experience?
4) The instructor had no sense of safety - was he certified? Did he have experience in teaching a small child with little arm strength how to shoot such a powerful gun?

Now there's a dead guy and a traumatized little girl.

Fuck

It's a tragedy where everyone loses. That 9 year old is gonna need psychiatric help for a long time. Is it necessary for parents to let elementary school kids go to a shooting range?

Yes, those children must go to the gun range to get their freedom...

They need to sue the dead guy for traumatizing the little girl.

Of course, a surprising number of survivalists end up like he did, smacked by their own arsenals.

Seriously ... that's where all the freedom is stored ... at the gun range.

That's why America protects freedom with the help of all the Bankster/Wall Street/American War Party profiteers.

Freedom for everyone. Bring on Hillary. Yes She Can.

Maybe she doesn't like Barbies?

She is now trained enough to be a police officer in Ferguson.

If you are too young to vote, drink, and drive, you are too young to handle guns.

I'm willing to recognize that our society can be benefitted by having people with the "blind allegiance, warrior mentality" type of mindset. I just think the benefit would be so much greater if those people were not allowed to vote...

Distasteful even for you, roberto

Shouldn't this thread be in the Healthcare forum?

When I was 12, mom wouldn't let me leave the house in the winter without her .45 semi-automatic Colt in a shoulder holster. Too many wild animals out on the ski trails. Never shot an Uzi tho until this summer.

I'm sure you were well trained to handle guns, and in a dangerous situation you potentially could have encountered when 12, I might look the other way.
However, you were still too young to handle guns. Your gun training would have begun well before 12. I would also not feel comfortable letting a 12 year old go where there was danger from wild animals.
