2.5 million dollar coaches, 2 million dollar college professors, half million buck prison shrinks.

From the SFGate story on school salaries where I got the links:
"Saratoga Union Elementary School District, which has 2,100 students, paid its superintendent Lane Weiss $317,000 in wages and benefits last year, which included a $48,000 a year housing allowance that the superintendent said has since ended. Weiss’ pay was nearly as much as San Francisco Unified paid its superintendent Richard Carranza, who oversees 58,000 students. Carranza’s contract includes $500-a-month car allowance and $20,000 a year housing allowance, bringing his total pay in salary, perks and health benefits to $319,000."

2000 students!
That must be a grueling 20 hour work week.

That's supposed to be a lot? The Centinela Valley Union High School District(6000 enrollment) pays it's superintendent, Jose Fernandez, $660,000/yr and gave him a million dollar 2%! 40 year loan because he had just had his home foreclosed on and could not get financing due to SEVERAL past bankruptcies.

I think we have a winner!

Therefore all the teachers in those districts pull down at least $200,000.

Still looking for the millionaire civil servant...

Teabagger astroturf.

Shrink = head of an entire system

Do you expect the Chancellor of UCLA to work for $50K? No? Then why would you expect the head of say the state mental illness facilities to work for $50K? The high-dollar mucky-mucks are never paper-shufflers and button pushers like me.

This reminds me of a Mish story where he singled out a "teacher" who made too much. Turns out when I researched the guy, he was a neonatal cardiosurgeon who worked at the University hospital. You think someone who can perform heart surgery on infants works for peanuts? Give me a break!

Nope, just a timesheet-padding shrink:
"They averaged nearly $379,000 in salary and were led by the $803,271 paid to a psychiatrist at Salinas Valley State Prison."
http://bigstory.ap.org/article/high-pay-costly-legacy-calif-prison-receiver
This abuse was also covered in Huffintgon's notorious "Teabagger" rag.

The example I used was a superintendent of a 2000 kid district pulling over 300k. Laker's prize winning case makes 600+ large for his cake walk gig.
Nobody is attacking "teacher salaries".

What is the NPV of 100k a year?
Or the $371,042.88 Michael D Johnson is going to reap from Solano County for the rest of his days?

Saratoga is heart of Silcon Valley. I'm sure Richie McGoogleHead wants the very best and pays for it.

The guy overseeing 58,000 students is working too cheap.

I don't, but maybe the FBI does. They are doing a criminal investigation into his excessive pay and the generous loan he received. And I was wrong, his compensation package combined with his salary earned him over $750,000 last year. I also didn't realize he was fired last month when the FBI probe began.

Jose Fernandez is not a "White Hispanic".

He is a complete POS

ANY government employee or official's salary should be capped at $100K maximum. If they want to try to make more than that, (which I seriously doubt they ever could) they can start a business. That would take care of the problem.

15   Entitlemented   2014 Oct 31, 10:14am

Democrats and school unions have combined to make a "Worse than Capone" Democratic majority.

When Public workers make 4-10X what private sector does, they double down and create a "cooper pair" of sorts where Unions must elect democrat officials that must get bought off. If they dont get elected then their Ponzi scheme may stop. And when it stops who will be on the hook for lifelong retirements for Public sector workers in the range of $50K-$700K per year?

Truely, its worse financially than Sicilian styled Mafias.

16   Entitlemented   2014 Oct 31, 10:17am

Goverment salaries should be derived from the median of the salary of that Job Speciality in the Private Sector.

Legal Fees in America should not exceed R&D fees in America by 100X.

Lawyer Salaries should be on par with Computer Scientists/Physicists/Engineers.

Lawyers have to work on a schedule for fixed fee.

17   indigenous   2014 Oct 31, 10:25am

No No, we just need to do away with collective bargaining, in other words no unions in the public sector. If they want higher salaries without price discovery we simple find someone else who will do the job cheaper, if not possible they get the higher salary.

This is why JB was so damaging.

The overarching point is do we REALLY need the government services in the first place?

Mostly they are just pretend jobs that are a charade.
