I just heard some extremely sad news that turtledove passed away recently, quite possibly over weekend. Had been in touch with her regarding a family issue and I got an email from her husband today indicating that she had passed away before I had a chance to reply . I am not privy to any other details.

Was very thoughtful of her husband to contact me, given his level of grief and work responsibilities in light of the bad news. She was a kind generous person who asked her husband to reach out to me on deathbed to meet up and discuss our case with us.

Personally, I'm in shock, as it seems to have happened this past Saturday or Sunday.

No answer. Not good.

Facebook does have a condolence at https://www.facebook.com/susann.sills

Shocking. I hope this is not true.

Normally, I am very detached, but even my wife noticed that I was visibly sad. :-(

Wish I hadn't missed the last meetup when she was in town. She will truly be missed.

Patnet won't be the same without her.
Big loss to the community.
I didn't correspond with her privately that much, but we did share a few emails back and forth. She was a very genuine and generous person.

I remember Turtledove talking about the pleasure she had with her children. Her joy sent a healing energy, even over the internet. I always thought of her as a healer after that, even with the jousting.

She loved and she was and is loved, which is more than can be said for a lot of people.

God Damn It!!!

63   anonymous   2016 Nov 15, 10:08pm

OMG, this is unbelievable. I just came home from my father-in-law's funeral this last weekend, and then this. Now I'm curious to know what "accident" happened at home. We love you, Turtledove.

I didn't cry when my Father died, damn I just had a good cry.

65   Philistine   2016 Nov 15, 10:12pm

What? . . . What? Is it weird I'm tearing up and I never met her? I can't process this right now.

66   Heraclitusstudent   2016 Nov 15, 10:55pm

Very sad.
It goes to show we never know when our number will come up, folks.
Especially with Trump's fat little fingers near the red button.
Enjoy life today.
Personally I'm hoping to stroke out before getting too senile. But we don't get to choose.

67   anonymous   2016 Nov 15, 10:56pm

Damn how tragic

Anyone have an idea of something we could all chip together to do for her?

I second that. Perhaps a cause she is passionate about?

Was really hoping this thread was just a 'vast right wing conspiracy', a hoax, and not true. Traded a few emails with her. Very nice lady, as all have already said.
Wishing you well in the beyond TDove. Wishing the best for those close to you.

I'll post this song because from her postings here it seems how she would have lived her life...

Now I'm curious to know what "accident" happened at home.

http://livingwithmyhome.com/diy-do-it-yourself/preventing.aspx
The 5 leading causes of death from home accidents are:

Falls
Poisonings
Fires
Suffocation and choking
Drowning

I'm pretty sure she would not accidentally poison herself, and I'd rule out fire as well since I bet they would have mentioned that. If we know if she had a pool or not we could maybe rule out drowning.

78   AllTruth   2016 Nov 16, 6:50am

Major downer.

It's bad enough she was only in her 40s, but just as bad that she has young children.

She struck me as beautiful, intelligent, strong-willed, fiercely independent, yet forgiving.

I'm bummed.

I feel sorriest for them, especially since it was sudden and she hadn't been expected to die. I lost my father when I was only 14 and for several years I was terrified my mother was going to die of a brain tumor as she had headaches all the time--as it was she lived to be 94.

I guess I watch too much Information Discovery, but I hope this doesn't turn out to be something only disguised as an "accident", as tragic as it is already.

81   Tenpoundbass   2016 Nov 16, 8:04am

I hope She's really alive and well, She's just ditching us because her social experiment to bring us altogether as one big huge homogeneous family failed.

82   Dan8267   2016 Nov 16, 8:09am

Like a typical man, I deal with grief by trying to be useful. So in that spirit, Facebook does allow family members to close or memorize accounts of deceased users. A user can also specify what should happen to his account after his death. Here are the links.

My mother left my abusive, drunk, trash father when I was 12.He died when I was 14.
Mama lived to be 92.
If he was alive today I would slap the stupid out of him. I'll do it when I meet him in HELL.

Time to major troll.
Anyone that has used or uses alcohol is weak minded fool.
Alcohol should be classified as a Schedule +1 drug calling for immediate execution for
anyone that has anything to do with it. Pick up a wine bottle,YOU DIE,NOW!

Time to roll one!

She was a damned fine Patriot and a Classy Woman. My deepest heart felt condolences to her Family. If she profoundly touched me as much as she did, by making me sob and weep like a baby upon this terrible news. I can't imagine what they must be going through, after having the privlege to live with such a fine person day in an day out. For that person to now be gone from their life.

Amazing that she had such an impact on so many of us who didn't even meet her in person. It goes to show what kind of a person she was, and I can't imagine the suffering of those who were very close to her.
