I have worked with more minorities than 95% of the US population. Most are no different than myself in what they want in life. What happened was FDR's New Deal and subsequent social welfare programs created a Democrat party that supported hand outs. Blacks jumped to the party of hand outs despite it also being home to the KKK and all the biggest racists. It was a tough choice, but they wanted those hand outs. After the civil rights act got passed, democrats began to court these minority voters and the party got less overtly racist.
But covert racist policies remained, with goals of destroying black families and getting whole communities hooked on drugs. These would become lifelong democrat voters since they now required welfare programs to live.
And it's still that way.
