You need a common identity to make a stable prosperous country. Without that, it will be split by separatist movements or civil war.

Genetic and linguistic diversity of population is a very bad thing for a country. It makes citizens not care about the country as a whole, only about their own specific ethnic group. The $14K figure is AFTER the taxes they paid in... Should we find a 1st grader to explain this basic math equation for you?

So not entirely true. If you stay in Mexico long enough, you are supposed to get the proper documentation/permits, which costs money. The case I'm talking about is Americans who live in border towns like Tijuana because of the cheaper cost of living, but work in the US. They pretty much never get these documents, because Mexico doesn't enforce them. I've heard that's starting to change though. When you cross down, they try to charge the gringos if they think you are living in TJ illegally.
