McConnell, that once the first repeal didn't take, Obamacare was law. The more people have become informed about Obamacare, or benefited form it, the more they liked it. The more people learned about the repeal bill, the more people disliked it.

They could still give it another go, but it is now looking like an upward battle for them. That was won on a lot of simple people protesting their congressmen. True action of the people, no way around it. Some against the bill are not up for election until 2020. Insanely bad bill.

I actually agree. Lets have a very basic system of healthcare that is available to all with very limited benefits, and supplement it with private or employee insurance.

Millions of useless healthcare red-tape workers would lose jobs, many carcasses of health care entities would go under, but doctors and equipment/device makers, hospitals etc. would have to reach real equilibrium in terms of supply/demand based on true market forces, and a far more healthy, sustainable, balanced health care system would result over time (a relatively short period of a decade or less).

Lobbying is your perfect " free market" at work. The way real "free markets" work is once companies get big enough they use government to maximize their profits through tax breaks, subsidies, and competition killing regulation. The libertarian mantra is to get rid of government services (that I don't use), no government handouts (to other people) and reduce regulations (that don't benefit me). Always has been, always will be. The US is far and away the most extreme example. Crony capitalism is much more difficult in a parliamentary system.
