The Americans and the British before them expended enormous effort to preempt the emergence of a dominant power on the European Continent that might challenge their successive naval empires. They fought two world wars to stop Germany from becoming just such a power. This great struggle ended in 1945 with Western Europe as a fully subjugated imperial province. Since then, the Americans have coordinated the NATO alliance and guaranteed the security of European countries not out of charity, but because Europe is their provincial possession. As a rule, they have not wanted Europe to assume full responsibility for its own defence, because a world in which America no longer guarantees the security of Europe is a world in which Europe is no longer an American province. It’s that simple.
To fend off the Soviets, the Americans nevertheless rebuilt and rearmed the nations of Western Europe. Everyone involved in this project had to come up with a way to allow the Germans to become a dominant economic power again, without displacing the United States or provoking the hostilities of wary postwar neighbours like France. One solution here was the European Union, which promoted economic interdependency as a counterweight to nationalist concerns. Another solution came at the cultural level, where Germany sought to allay European anxieties over possible Teutonic aggression by developing a national cult of historical guilt for World War II, which steadily blossomed into a full-blown civic religion. This exercise in self-effacement has grown more and not less extreme over time, in part as a response to nervousness about the consequences of German reunification. Many voices on the right like to portray Germans as victims of an externally imposed guilt regime, but the truth is that we did most of this to ourselves. The German left in particular has profited from and encouraged this mindset from the beginning.
German political self-effacement had one unexpected feature, in that it proved to be contagious. Within a generation of 1945, many of the victorious allied powers were striving to develop their own historical guilt cults after the German example, in each case centred around a national original sin like slavery or colonialism. ...
It has been four generations since any major European nation plotted an independent geopolitical agenda; the very idea is a nightmare for our rulers, and many of the resulting alliances would remind people of unfortunate early 20th-century geopolitical configurations. This is primarily why European leaders have developed such a fanatical obsession with the war in Ukraine. For the moment, the conflict defines Russia as an external threat and suppresses all discussions about the different national interests of EU member states.

A Muslim migrant harasses two young women in Berlin

This woman looks middle Eastern to me. I wonder if that is part of the guy's problem.
Rudat was staying in Dresden with his former foreign exchange host family when he fell foul of a well-known local thug and drug dealer, according to videos he later posted on social media.
Pictures from the aftermath of the violent altercation show blood splattered over the floor of the tram, along with tissues used by other passengers to treat Rudat’s wounds.
One of Rudat’s suspected attackers, a 21-year-old Syrian national, was arrested on suspicion of beating up Rudat before his accomplice came back and stabbed the EMT. ...
His face bloody and covered in bandages, Rudat took to Instagram on Sunday night to slam his attackers and condemn what he called Europe’s “immigration problem.”
“If y’all didn’t think Europe had an immigration problem, especially Germany, let me drop some knowledge on you,” he said, his voice muffled by the heavy bandaging to his nose and above his mouth.
“It is 11:57 a.m. right now. In three minutes, that man that assaulted that young woman will be released from custody. He’ll be released from custody because he’s not a citizen of Germany, he’s not a citizen of the EU for that matter,” Rudat said.
“He’s an immigrant, an illegal one, a drug dealer, and very popularly known here, especially by the police. This is not the first time this has happened. It’s not the first time that man has beaten up women, and it’s not the first time that the other guy decided to take a swing at my face with a six-inch blade,” he continued.
“If they could do this to the people of Germany and then just get released 12 hours later — even less at this point — where is the law? Where is the structure?” he asked.
Late Saturday night, a pair of migrants on the Dresden tram (line 7) chose to amuse themselves by harassing two women, when a 21 year-old American man stepped in to stop them. The harassers tussled with and struck the good Samaritan; they left briefly, but one of them returned with a knife and slashed the man’s face open.
This silent video, first published by German social media personality Anabel Schunke, shows the man’s injuries immediately after the attack:
The American was rushed to hospital while his attackers fled. Dresden police managed to arrest one of them not far from the scene, as he was trying to escape on a rented scooter. His name is Majd A.; he is a 21 year-old Syrian who is known to the police for prior offences that include assault, robbery and (naturally) illegally entering the country. Police released him hours later pending their investigation; the state prosecutor’s office pleads that they have “insufficient grounds” to hold him as he merely hit and did not stab the victim. As I write this, the knife-wielding attacker remains at large. ...
Because the victim was an American, this case has made headlines across Anglophone media, but the truth is that this happens all the time now, and many cases as bad as or worse than this one pass with little notice. In 2024, authorities counted an average of 79 knife attacks per day in the Federal Republic. There are dozens if not hundreds of news stories out there, so many I no longer bother to keep track of them. Here’s a report from June about a 39 year-old man who died of knife wounds after getting into a fight with a bunch of Afghans in Berlin. Here’s a report from the beginning of August about a 40 year-old Tunisian migrant who stole a knife from a butcher shop in Wuppertal and used it to menace passers-by until police shot him. Here’s a report from July about the Syrian who injured four people on the Intercity Express from Straubing to Plattling with an axe. And here’s a report that made the news just today about a knife fight among Afghans in Berlin that left six injured. These stories are relentless.

They must think Germans are stupid!
"Why not? Our elites think the same thing of us."
No. This will ensure that the AfD candidates will be elected in a landslide.

They can't win if they are too dead to run. This is Germany, not New Jersey.
A Syrian man in Germany says he does not like Germany because it is not a Muslim country and Germans are "non-believers."
When asked which is better, the Germans who welcomed him or the Muslim countries that did not welcome him, he responds: "The Muslims."

Whenever Germans head to the polls, one question dominates all debate: How strong will the populist AfD become this time? Last Sunday’s district and mayoral elections in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW)—Germany’s most populous state—provided a stark answer.
While Germany’s state broadcaster spoke of a “sigh of relief” when the ruling CDU emerged victorious with 33.3% of votes, keeping the AfD in third place at 14.5%, this narrative of triumph masks a far more troubling reality for Germany’s political elite.
Minister President Henrik Wüst, despite his CDU’s electoral win, admitted he could no longer “sleep peacefully” given the AfD’s result. His anxiety is well-founded. Though his party technically won, the CDU achieved its worst post-war result in the state. Meanwhile, the traditionally dominant SPD collapsed to a mere 22.1%—also its worst performance ever, following an already disastrous showing five years prior.
The AfD, by contrast, nearly tripled its 2020 result under circumstances that would have crippled any other party.

Keep in mind, they laughed at Churchill, proudly declaring he was a warmongering eccentric, if not downright delusional, literally right up until the Sudentenland. And all the Liberals of the day claimed "Peace in Our Time."
We really should be thinking about how to divide Germany into Saxony, Prussia, Bavaria, Hannover, etc.and if Morganthau was right all along.
