Problem is that they will get back pay whenever gov't shutdown ends -- for these days off. What should happen is that House and Senate do not get any pay or back pay for shutdown, and perhaps are assessed penalties for each day of shutdown.
As of midnight today, the government employees will have 365 days off. Not that it makes any difference when they don't do much anyway.

A couple blocks from my house, these are all on the same block. Pretty notorious street in LA.

It's actually the other Candycane Lane- in El Segundo. It's only a block long and a pretty concentrated dose of lights. They shut down the road for about 2 weeks every December for foot traffic only.
