Watched it in the theater when it opened. Waiting for it to come out on appletv to re-watch it. It was over a month ago at this point, but I don't recall that character being overly SJW. Poe basically tells her to fuck off and he does his own things if I recall correctly. Carrie Fischer (sp?) floats back in and puts everyone back in order after rehabbing from being in a vacuum without a space suit.
Yes she is kind of made the savior by light speeding that fucking ship into the enemy, but you should probably have a bigger problem with Rae (sp?) in my opinion if your going the SJW route complaint.
I was ultimately entertained enough and am getting rather disappointed in how everything, literally everything is becoming politicized in some way or another. It's either a bad movie or good movie. Don't judge it based on some political feeling. Not sure why it's necessary to be in THIS or THAT camp, especially when talking about a science fiction movie of all things. It is fake, or so I hope people realize.

The 1st Order begins attacking the Rebel Fleet and decimates it. The Rebels attempt a getaway, Leia gets blown out of the ship's bridge and her along with Admiral Freaking Ackbar are killed instantly, or so we think.
But Leia somehow uses force surviving powers and floats back into the ship like Mary Poppins.
OUT OF NOWHERE, Vice Admiral Gender Studies (Holdo) comes into the scene. No explanation for who she is, just some purple haired vaguely lesbian feminist comes out and is supposedly some battle hardened hero who looks like she came out of the Woman's Resist Marches. I remember someone two rows behind me giving a disgusted laugh when she first appeared on screen followed by multiple giggles. it was just... ridiculous.
Po, who is the next highest ranking officer, but still below Vice Admiral Gender Studies basically says, "We're outnumbered 5 to 1, and literally hours away from being blown away when our fuel runs out, what's the plan?"
Now I haven't served in the military, but ONE WOULD THINK that the CO and XO of a freaking FLEET would discuss the situation and keep each other informed about their tactics and thoughts on the situation.
NOPE. Vice Admiral Gender Studies tells Po to fuck off and mind his own business. Just like that. It's a scene literally written to emasculate the main high testosterone good male via feminist brow beating.
Then she gets to do the whole heroic kamakazi run which destroyed Snoke's flagship. My only question is, from a story perspective, wouldn't ADMIRAL FREAKING ACKBAR have been 10x a better choice? I mean for fucks sake we've only known this purple haired freak for 30-40 minutes. Ackbar has been in the canon for what... 30 years?!

Or the token asian female who works below deck as ... whatever the fuck she was... and suddenly becomes some heroic pilot who has to save the black guy from himself, and now this interracial couple are in love. Sadly - I too got a bit of a political vibe, but I got it WAY more from the first one than the recent one. Heres my take on all the women in the movies:
Rey - Ive grown to tolerate her but was instantly put off by her instantly uber capable HERO complex. She lives in the equivalent of the inland empire, salvaging garbage - no education no training - nothing. Yet within days she is capable of flying the millennium falcon AND incapacitate the sniveling apparently weak as shit young darth vader guy in a LIGHT SABER DUEL??? Ridiculous.
Young Asian Chick - slightly put off, but whatevs had this been the extent of the catering to the empowered womens thing, I would have had no problem with the franchise.
Laura Dern - honestly, I didn't give a shit about her and really didn't get anything political from the fuck off Po exchange. I figured they put her in to get killed so who cares.
Old Leia - slightly annoyed by the I can use the force to escape zero gravity death thing, but other than that, I frankly really liked her. She really was kind of a bad-ass and would have been a great symbol to women if you really felt like you needed one. I mean she was the LEADER of the free world, is this not enough?
Side note - I was overall a meh as to both star wars, but I freaking LOVED Rogue 1. The felicity jones character was your strong independent woman and I got zero political vibe from her story line whatsoever.

That's the thing. Rogue One was fantastically written, and although they forced a female hero on us, it wasn't ridiculous. It was genuinely entertaining, and the sprinkle of SJW sauce didn't hurt the film.
I felt JJ Abrams just went overboard with Last Jedi and totally ruined the movie and possibly the franchise. Next film I will definitely see on NetFlix or Rent, but definitely not dropping evening pass money, or wasting an evening.

After this one I will never go to theatre to see star wars again. With all the bad reviews I went to see tlj with only my oldest son usually I would take the whole family. I saw all the originals when I was a kid and not wasting my money taking my kids for this gatbage, and I'm sure I'm not alone. 49% on rotten now and its not hackers or bots leaving long pissed off reviews like liberal news is portraying.

On IMDB, Last Jedi is ranked only above Phantom Menace (which featured Jar Jar binks), and slightly above Attack of the Clones. So it's obvious even Star Wars fans themselves are universally split on the film.

As far as I'm concerned, it's only the original Series for me. Everything else is BS. As a kid I read some of the extended universe stuff which wasn't bad. I put up with Lucas' prequels, where better dialogue and a stupid yet confused plot can be better found on a bad Daytime Soap. I assume the Disney ones are horrible.
So far from the original "Mythic Hero" set up. Should have put a real fan like Kevin Smith in charge.
