What the fuck Disney?

Vice Admiral Gender Studies totally ruined this movie. I honestly had to walk out. it's like they had to invent a strong feminist to put all the high-t males in their place.

Ridiculous. This is stepping over the line.

Let's be honest. You could be a far leftist, and let's say I'm a far rightist. The fact remains the movie was terrible all around. To say "Why are you guys mad, it's just a movie" is laughable.

Whenever you see purple hairs worn proudly in movies, and you hear "white male" pronounced with disdain, scorn, or spite, take it for what it is: advertisement for Trump 2020.

You should be happy that the tribal game is in full swing.
What's next? Oprah for president? You wish!
64   Ceffer   2018 Jan 26, 12:42pm

If Oprah becomes President, it means that the liberal media have succeeded in turning the public into decerebrate fake news sucklers.

Congratulations, liberal media!

No, it would just mean they have chosen to copy Trump - and the hell with the nation.
You know what they say about the sincerest form of flattery.

Kathleen Kennedy's bitch!

I think this nails it on the head. The real reason why he was given another trilogy to do was because he did whatever Kathleen Kennedy wanted. TLJ was not a good movie by any objective standard. It was the only Star Wars movie that I've ever looked at my watch. The whole casino subplot was just absolutely awful. Talk about the dumbest/slowest chase scene ever. "Hey guys, we have the most powerful fleet in the universe following a tiny ship that can't do anything...what's the plan?...just follow behind them nice and slow..." Seriously?! How the F do you have a Star Wars movie with 0 light saber duels!?! The fight with Snoke's guards was cool, but they didn't have light sabers. Why do you ruin Luke Skywalker? F Rian Johnson! I absolutely loved Star Wars, and this movie completely ruined it going forward. I'll probably watch 9, but I have no intention of seeing anything else from Rian Johnson.

The Star Wars franchise is pandering to women. The whole point of this propaganda thread is to try and convince white working class males that their interest is better served by Republicans than by Democrats. You are trying to get white working class males to vote against their own economic self-interest by invoking feminism as the bogeyman, and Republicans and Trump as their savior. This has been standard operating procedure for Republican propagandists probably as far back as 1960, if not before.

As usual:

1. "leftism" is one of the new designated propaganda words of 2017-2018. Before that I never heard of it, now it is being echoed everywhere in the propaganda echo chamber.

2. equating feminism with "leftism" is yet another propaganda technique. This particular thread is a perfect example. Rather than arguing against feminism, which is what it should do, it argues against "leftism" by equating it with feminism.

Luke in TLJ is such a terrible character devoid of all logic.

In TFA, he leaves this secret map behind, a map guarded by his closest allies (Kylo Ren chops an old guy in half to get the map to Skywalker during the opening moments of TFA) just in case shit hits the fan and they need a trained Jedi to help bring back order to the galaxy.

Then in TLJ, Rey arrived on the Jedi island, and what does Luke do? He tosses the lightsaber over the cliff and then acts like an emo bitch the rest of the movie.

How does that make any sense?!

Hmm, I seem to remember in the 60s the Republicans voting for the Civil Rights Act which was majority opposed by mostly Democrats.

But that's just history and facts getting in the way, carry on!

Yup, I was done w/ this franchise with the following link

http://patrick.net/post/1312570/2017-12-20-star-wars-the-last-jedi-sucks

I'd no longer any affinity for the franchise to delve into the SJW nonsense because it was already apparent with the whole Mary Sue thing, starting in TFA.

Spielberg and Lucas were inspired by the old movie serials. These had plenty of fantastic plots as well as holes in the plots. Suspend disbelief and enjoy. As these gentlemen likely did when they sought inspiration, fire up a spliff beforehand and have a good time.

''With both 'Star Wars' and 'Raiders,' I started out by asking myself 'Gee, when I was a kid what did I really like?' '' Mr. Lucas recently explained. He liked the derring-do of the serials, and the unbeatable courage of their characters, not to mention the 30's settings. ''Practically every movie star of the 30's has one movie like this, be it Alan Ladd or Clark Gable or whoever - playing a soldier of fortune in a leather jacket and that kind of hat,'' Mr. Lucas said, referring to Mr. Ford's snap-brim. ''That's a favorite period of mine, but it was more the character we were after than the period, although they're obviously both rooted in the same ground. I took that character and put him in outer space and it worked just fine - not the same character exactly, but the same concept in terms of story and entertainment value.''

Look who's talking, LOL.

Digital-media company Vox Media is pink-slipping about 50 employees, as it winds down certain initiatives including in online video.

The cuts, which affect around 5% of its employee base, were announced in a memo from Vox Media CEO Jim Bankoff to staff Wednesday. In addition to the 50 staffers being let go, about a dozen others will be offered different roles at the company.

The groups hardest hit by the layoffs, according to Bankoff’s memo, are Racked, Curbed, SB Nation and the video services team, “although there are also some smaller changes elsewhere in the company.”

In announcing Vox Media’s cutbacks, Bankoff cited “industry changes over the past few months” that made it clear that the company needed to scale back its investment in some initiatives, primarily around native social video. Those initiatives, he said, “won’t be viable audience or revenue growth drivers for us relative to other investments we are making.”

CNN also laid off 100 people after downsizing -uh right sizing- to a new Space.

Nope. The Superhero stuff has gone too far. Adults are way too fuckin' Adolescent.

These movies were and should be made for teenage pre-teen/early teen boys. Now they are made to appeal to those who did not "Put childish things away".

Like I said, after 14 you should be giving up the action figures and move to cars/stamps/beer brewing/cooking/audiophilia/guitars whatever - adult hobbies/interests. Yes, in past eras some very Aspie kids never really grew up, but I remember aggressively shaming kids who still played with the Millenium Falcon after age 12/13. Seems that Gen Y boys (and girls?!) never gave up toys. Not just Star Wars/Trek but also like My Little Ponies or whatever.

D&D/RPGs same shit. Sometime around 16 you realize girls don't play and you've learned all the medieval/historical shit you're gonna get out of them, so you go clamming and try to sell it to restaurants so you can get cash to buy a car. Mine was the legendary Ford Econoline party wagon with the Black Light Bob Marley/Pink Floyd posters over the old futon I put in the back. I got to fool around quite a bit and even lent it out, great way to get girls topless when your parents are home as a teen - and even hook up when your roommate won't leave the dormroom. Doesn't work much past the first couple of years of college, though I imagine you can squeeze some utility out of it by offering gals camping or tailgating trips. Adding some tail to the gating.

Also I remember making money moving people's stuff around a few times.

My kids are getting standard Western heroes. Ulysses, Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans (original flick), Chuck Norris. Good messages: Train hard/be knowledgable, show patient endurance (Karteria), be skeptical, and then win big.

Shit, my 5-year old is watching the Old Dirty Kung Fu movies. Old Man trains the young guy, plenty of slapstick comedy, they beat up the bad guys and save their family. I don't have them watching Disney Junior or PBS, there's a shitload of BS messaging in them.

Lol! Reviving old posts over butthurtness. Regardless of what you think of the movie, were there not comedic parts people? That doesn't make it a "good" movie or strictly a "sci-fi" movie. There were funny parts in all the star wars movies. Watch them sometime.

Originals > Prequels >>>>>> Disney

The Originals were amazing space adventures that were nearly flawless in executing the story they wanted to tell.

The Prequels had a lot of flaws, but were driven by a passion to expand on the world and lore of the Star Wars universe, and definitely have their quality moments. Episode III especially is a damn good movie.

The Disney films are soulless, virtue signaling cash-ins that give off the illusion of quality due to their high budget, paid-off reviews, and NPC approval.

When Luke is handed the Lightsaber and he throws the phallic symbol behind his back this is a portent of things to come. Men are disposable. Admiral Ackbar thrown away as an afterthought which was better than Lando's fate who was not even mentioned. Did Han Solo ever have a funeral? I missed that. Luke Skywalker is thrown away at the end to further the plot for Rey. Will Luke get a funeral? But the character of the actress who actually died irl? Still alive because vagina. Professor gender studies gets to go out in a blaze of glory, but not a main character. Men are garbage and women are awesome. All of your HIStory will be burned and discarded. I got the message Disney.

David Gilmour is the real genius anyway.

As for Star Wars, all the rumors are true, Emperor back from the dead, Mary Sue continues to unbelievably kick ass without overcoming any struggles because of the strong female lead she is.

Actually Rick Wright was.
Rick worked out the bass and set the tonal range for Waters and Gilmore to play in. Then the genius of Rick was, he then didn't need to overplay as Gilmore and Waters was an extension of his keyboard.
Rick Wright could have played a rowdy banging Piano like Elton John and Billy Joel, but he was giving the music room to breathe.
