With all the talk about the school shootings, let's take a look at what the 2nd Amendment actually says:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Couple things to note in there:

1. The specific mention of a militia being the reason for the need to bear arms.
2. The 2nd Amendment never mentions the word gun at all.

So, what exactly is the definition of "arms"?

In 1755 Dr. Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language was first published. It defined “arms” as “weapons of offence, or armour of defence.”

Weapons of offence would seem to include pretty much anything and everything, from knives to nuclear weapons. The US has already seen fit to ban some weapons of offence so the 2nd Amendment clearly has not been interpreted strictly as meaning that the US cannot ban all "arms". Therefore, the 2nd Amendment does not guarantee citizens the right to own whatever weapons they choose.

So it then becomes a question of which weapons should be banned, which should be strictly regulated, and which should be lightly regulated or not at all. Like anything else, we should weigh an individual's right with society's right. When looked at in that manner, it becomes very difficult to justify why fully automatic or semi automatic rifles should be allowed. What purpose do they serve an individual? And why would that purpose outweigh the extreme damage those weapons have cased society??

Patrick thinks the Chamber of Commerce is the worst organization, and he may be correct, but the NRA is not far behind.

Small scale toy Factories. 2nd amendment on steroids.(I think some checks and balances needed)
Not sure if the tradition started during Sikh Empire as Sikh religion wants 2nd amendment on steroids but crushed by Hindoo/British.

I think he needs a better workshop! Who the hell would build a workshop with a vise on the floor so that you have to kneel to work?

Ha Ha!
You know if tribal people start thinking like city people, Soon a corporation will come in and scoop all the business.
Logically there is no need to build it at small scale.

Yes, let's go after the weapons that are rarely used. No penalties however, for those who have acquired and used handguns illegally as that would attack the source of the vast majority of gun crime, but would have a "disparate impact on crooks of color."

I always thought it was stupid to have an orange tipped gun to indicate it's a "toy". Like how hard is it for a criminal to paint the tip orange?

I'm annoyed by these stupid measures that are taken but I rarely voice them, because I don't know how dumb the rest of the population is. I'll voice ONE now, not that I would ever do what I'm about to describe, and I'm only voicing it here because I don't believe there's any terrorists on this site.

You realize how easy it would to create a what the US federal government calls a "terrorist incident"? Drive down a residential street with a bunch of molotov cocktails, setting homes on fire at 3:00 am. You'd overwhelm the fire department in less than 20 minutes, and burn down 50 blocks and kill hundreds if not thousands. This is why I don't believe much in "terrorists" - if you just want to kill people, it's tremendously easy to do, provided you don't mind dying to do it.

You could get a pilots license, rent a Cesna, and do the same thing. You're doomed once you land, most likely.

If a group of people want to kill a bunch of people, it's TREMENDOUSLY easy to do. Gun? That's just ignorant.

I'm fully confident I'm not the smartest person, and I'm entirely confident that there is some sociopathic asshole terrorist that is far more intelligent and creative than I am. The government intimidates people convincing them that "terrorists" are after them - they aren't, they are trying to gain notoriety, they aren't trying to actually kill people, that's just the non-combatant victims. "Terrorists" often seem to MINIMIZE non-combatant victims, but make it a notable atrocity to attract attention to whatever their cause is.

Any fool with about $100,000 could burn down an entire city suburb if they wanted to do it. That's the REAL world we live in.

Let's just be frank and honest.

The purpose of the second amendment is to kill a bunch of fucking politicians when they get to be too much of a group of assholes.

Stop pussy footing around it. The "well regulated militia" is US. That's the fucking purpose of the 2nd amendment, to murder tyrants. That's it.

Here's an idea - stop bombing Syria!

Too fucking radical? To CRAZY an idea? Maybe the US can stop making refugees by blowing up their homes. I know this seems like a RADICAL idea, but I suggest our fucking murderous asshole "leaders" try it.

I know it's SUPER DANGEROUS to stop killing people in 3rd world nations, but maybe we can try this??

This is true. The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to get it back when our government has become irredeemably corrupt, as they are now.

They have stripped us of the meaning of our vote by filling the ballot boxes with fraudulent mail-in ballots

Now they are trying to strip us of our right to speak and right to bear arms against them.

As Scott Adams correctly points out, this won't be a conventional war.

Consanguinity and dysmorphology in Arabs

Consanguineous marriage is favored and respected in most if not all Arab communities, and intrafamilial unions currently account for 20-50% of all marriages. First-cousin unions are especially popular and constitute almost one quarter of all marriages in many Arab countries. Consequently, autosomal recessive (AR) dysmorphic syndromes constitute a considerable proportion of all birth defects among Arabs.

Inbreeding usually suppresses intelligence as well.

Scott Adams:

The news business triggers mass shootings via the copycat effect (obviously) and then covers the news as if guns are the cause as opposed to the means. That's some powerful brainwashing.

There is a positive correlation between owning guns and needing roofing services, when people fire their guns inside. They figure they will recoup the cost of the gun with profits when butter fingered owners and their children set them off.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/mkt_breakingnews/supreme-court-takes-up-major-nra-backed-gun-rights-case_3791388.html

“The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted limited to the following question: Whether the State’s denial of petitioners’ applications for concealed-carry licenses for self-defense violated the Second Amendment,” reads a brief order (pdf) from the high court on Monday.

Over the years, the NRA and other gun rights groups have criticized the Supreme Court for not taking up any major lawsuits relating to the Second Amendment. In 2008, the court said for the first time that the Second Amendment protects Americans’ rights to keep and bear arms for self-defense at home.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, considered possibly the most conservative justice, wrote several years ago that courts have engaged in a “general failure to afford the 2nd Amendment the respect due an enumerated constitutional right.” Going further, he wrote: “If a lower court treated another right so cavalierly, I have little doubt that this court would intervene … The 2nd Amendment is a disfavored right in this court.”

https://notthebee.com/article/an-illinois-judge-harnessed-his-inner-founding-father-and-declared-the-state-firearms-id-unconstitutional

On Tuesday, White County Judge T. Scott Webb called foul and ruled that the FOID card is blatantly unconstitutional:

"A citizen in the State of Illinois is not born with a Second Amendment right. Nor does that right insure when a citizen turns 18 or 21 years of age. It is a façade. They only gain that right if they pay a $10 fee, complete the proper application, and submit a photograph.

If the right to bear arms and self-defense are truly core rights, there should be no burden on the citizenry to enjoy those rights, especially within the confines and privacy of their own homes. A citizen's Second Amendment rights should not be treated in the same manner as a driver's license."

Good, there is at least one judge who still respects the Constitution.
