They also failed to develop the full potential of gunpowder, too.

NO the Great Wall worked; there aren't many Mexicans in China! Also, Hadrian's Wall worked; there aren't many Mexicans in Northern England.

What about Israel’s wall in the West Bank? Effective or not?

A wall between US and Mexico would be less than half as effective as Israel's wall because less than half of illegal migration comes across US Mexico border.

What about the 33% of the wall that currently exists? Should that be removed? Has Nancy called for that yet, since she actually voted FOR those sections of wall.

If we stop half of the illegal immigration into the country (the part coming from the South), do you think those professional software engineers from India that overstay their visas, will be doing much raping, murders, robbery, etc?

1 thing is for sure, a wall on the Mexican border wouldn't have stopped the 9-11 terrorists who came across the Canadian border.

The irrationality of the Left knows no bounds. You've already determined your conclusion, so now it's a matter of looking only at data that supports it. The irony is that it is our "democracy" that is ruining this country. Voters should be required to take a voter IQ test and pay a certain minimum in taxes.

IQ maybe, taxes definitely; voters should have some skin in the game.

“Fact checked by CNN”

So...did we just admit that it would be equally effective as the people that cross that area?
10   mell   2019 Jan 13, 10:54am

No it worked.

It worked. The goal was to make snap raids hard, and to stop marauders from quickly retreating when laden down with booty and allow Chinese Armies to catch up and get them between themselves and the wall, and to provide advance warning.

It wasn't 100% effective, but it was very effective.

You mean the 9/11 terrorists, because still no real ID that has visa expiry on it, nor empowering (requiring) local cops to hold visa overstayers.

It stopped barbarian invasions. So it did work. Plus the signaling system helped notify of attacks.

Ot is impressive how left these days is grasping in every directions hoping to not get a wall.
19   Ceffer   2019 Jan 13, 5:17pm

Oh, yeah? Well, Mr. SmartyPants, how many Mexicans exactly got over the Great Wall of China? NONE!

You know, if Trump was keeping the government shutdown for immigration reform I could respect that. No, Trump is holding the country hostage over a stupid wall. Sad.

Immigration reform INCLUDES a wall as part of the package. Duh.....

Amazing how clueless Democrats are, they really need to STOP listening to Pelosi. They get stupider every time she opens her mouth.
22   Tenpoundbass   2019 Jan 15, 8:24am

Will the wall keep everyone out?
Probalby not!

But I'm sure it will deter 10,000 strong Caravans financed by George Soros.

The few hundred that sneak across every year can be caught and sent back easier than 10,000 pawns.

Those that do make it across will most likely be hardened criminals that have no regard for laws.

That's an easy deportation.

And to say China's great wall didn't work, is a lie and a joke.

It served the purpose to unify all of China into one Country, and it stayed that way until the British Empire came calling. The British didn't cross the Great Wall to take Hong Kong.

You mean, the Dems won't provide $5B in a ~$4T budget.

Yes, Trump would rather destroy this country than take no for an answer. If he wanted to write the bills he should have run for the House.

The Democrats would rather shut down the country than pay for something Pelosi and Schumer supported just a few years ago.

Need to virtue signal for the Coasties and get more handout voters!

... The irony is that it is our "democracy" that is ruining this country. Voters should be required to ... pay a certain minimum in taxes.

In the old days, only land owners got to vote. And land owners were the only ones who paid taxes (on the land at least).

I've always said that the vote should count proportionally to how much you paid in taxes, with people paying net negative taxes (welfare type payments exceeding taxes) being given a proportion of 0. I think the will of the voters would suddenly move towards a flat tax (with no deductions) and significantly lower government budget to fund the lower taxes.

Actually Pelosi didn't support it then, at the time, but now she does and so does Schumer. They have sent a bill that includes funding for what Schumer supported in 2006. So what you say is not true because they sent a bill to the Senate which includes funds for what Schumer supported in 2006. Prove me wrong.

OK, prove you wrong, here it is.... and it's from 2013, not 2006, just five years ago under Obama.
