It's pretty funny that 'fake news' was originated by the fake news press as a placard to hang around Trump's neck.
Placard is still there - now playing as "Alternative Facts" and outright lies on a daily basis.
Poetic justice much?
How sad should I be about ChatGPT?
14 Dec 2022
A week ago my brother sent a message to our family group:
“My team at work launched something! It’s called ChatGPT. Give it a go: https://chat.openai.com”
I talked to ChatGPT for ten minutes and then had a crisis of meaning for a few days. I eventually texted my brother back to say well done, because family will still be important, whatever happens next. ...
I texted everyone I could to warn them what was coming. I sounded like an uncritical AI futurist. But all the real futurists seemed excited, or at least frantic. I just felt glum. Our parents had got both the property boom and the last shreds of meaning.
I cycled to a friend’s house to watch England play in the World Cup. I thought of Richard Feynman and how he felt after the Manhattan Project. He said that he saw people building a bridge in New York and thought that they were being absurd, that they didn’t understand. There were atomic bombs now, it was senseless to make anything. It would all be destroyed soon.
As I pedalled I watched people through their office windows, composing unclear emails and editing buggy spreadsheets. I hadn’t played any part in GPT, but I felt like Feynman. Why were these people wasting their time? Didn’t they read the news? Human striving was over, this was all going to be annihilated. Just go home and wait. ...
For now I’ll wait and see. Until last week I had vague plans to one day write books about teaching programming, maybe a novel, maybe work on some music, spend more time with the kids. I thought I had a plausible path to a highly circumscribed form of greatness. But I suspect that ChatGPT is in many ways already a better teacher than me; certainly it’s more patient and available. I don’t know how long until AI can write novels and synthwave, but it could be soon. That just leaves the kids. I might have to get comfortable with the idea that I have inherent value as a human beyond what I produce.
The Singularity is Near(er (maybe)). Will it be a robot Heaven, or will it be a robot Hell? For over half a century, much has been made of the question, but increasingly it seems the answer is “neither.” Today’s artificial intelligence, while incredibly impressive, is nowhere near advanced enough to trigger accidental end game in any direction. Then, with no one in the field of artificial intelligence illustrating any kind of coherent plan for the technology beyond its development, it seems we’re approaching a world of massive disruption for no particular reason, and to no particular end. In other words, I’m now anticipating a future of neutral chaos, if a colorful and entertaining chaos.
I’m hearing that the ChatGPT4 version is much much better than the 3 version which has been making so many headlines.
One thing seems clear to me: news anchors are in trouble. Why pay big money for a robotic human to read from a teleprompter when an actual robot could do it so much better and for practically free?
Sentience… it’s getting VERY hard to tell human from AI in just chat. Humans are stupider is my only tell lately.
Big Tech giant Google is curating data that artificial intelligence (AI) uses to learn, a whistleblower has claimed.
The whistleblower, former Google employee Zach Vorhies, warns that Big Tech can bias the AI to censor information flowing on the Internet.
Vorhies said he became concerned about how the company was curating data to generate AI while he was working for Google.
He claims that the data used by Google staffers is biased with social justice or leftist values that adhere to certain narratives.
“AI is a product of the data that gets fed into it,” Vorhies told EpochTV’s “Crossroads” show on January 5.
“If you want to create an AI that’s got social justice values … you’re going to only feed it information that confirms that bias,” Vorhies explained.
“So by biasing the information, you can bias the AI.”

DARPA set four specific goals for the program:
"Detect, classify, measure and track the (a) formation, development and spread of ideas and concepts (memes), and (b) purposeful or deceptive messaging and misinformation.
Recognize persuasion campaign structures and influence operations across social media sites and communities.
Identify participants and intent, and measure effects of persuasion campaigns.
Counter messaging of detected adversary influence operations." ...
"DARPA's been funding an AI network using the science of social media mapping dating back to at least 2011-2012, during the Arab Spring abroad and during the Occupy Wall Street movement here at home," Benz told Just The News. "They then bolstered it during the time of ISIS to identify homegrown ISIS threats in 2014-2015."
The new version of this technology, he added, is openly targeting two groups: Those wary of potential adverse effects from the COVID-19 vaccine and those skeptical of recent U.S. election results.

Ultimately AI is just a program. It will never be real intelligence, by definition. But it sure is good at processing huge amounts of data and transforming it into information that can be used to manipulate people

And Patrick.NET is in the crosshairs of intersectionality on both those topics.
I guess AI is getting good at porn as well:

We should start a list of all the jobs we think that will still exist for humans in 10 years.
The term 'Artificial Intelligence" has certainly ben dumbed down over the years. Originally, AI was something that would be achieved when a machine could create an original thought, something that the human mind can do in the flash of an eye. Now the AI tern is being applied to ChatGPT4, when ChatGPT4 is just a keyword based regurgitator that can write the output in paragraph form.

Next, this process will be used to create "victimless" kiddie porn.
I think this AI stuff is going to be an out for people that get exposed, they will say it was AI and fake.
