None of the refugees I've taken in will wear a mask or get vaccinated for COVID!!
My household is so diverse and vibrant right now. THE CULTURE on display is intoxicating. I'm the envy of white liberals everywhere. I'm walking around 24/7 with a massive bonk on underneath my Minion onesie. I feel so enriched. With all that said, things aren't exactly harmonious here. Perhaps it was a mistake to take in refugees from Israel and Palestine. They're not exactly getting along. Samer has accused Noah of encroaching upon his part of the house, which has been clearly sectioned off with a long piece of tape, and for what it's worth, Noah came running to me with a bloody nose shortly after and told me Samer had punched him. I don't know who to believe or who's side to take, all I know is I'm going broke with all these mouths to feed!
My long-time Ukrainian refugee house-pet Nykolai has also become shockingly racist towards our new house guests too. I never knew he harboured such awful, backwards beliefs!! "Get rid of zem or I vill." Nykolai grumbled menacingly at me over our evening bowls of borscht. My jaw dropped. I lunged for the spray bottle, but it was just out of reach. If this kind of behavior carries on, I'll have to think about rehoming him or getting him put down. I've put an ad up on Gumtree anyway, but so far no one's shown any interest. Ukrainians have just gone out of fashion, it seems.
The worst part of all of this though is that none of my new friends will get jabbed or wear mask around the house. I've TOLD them that I'm severely immunocompromised, and they either laughed in my face or straight up ignored me. It's like they don't even care about COVID or something!! I'm sure one of them has given me Long COVID. My stomach has been terrible for the past few days. Every few hours I shit my guts out. Thankfully all of this delicious, exotic, multicultural food I'm being introduced to every night is keeping my spirits up!
