Reality is that we do have to raise taxes on that 44% if we want to get rid of the deficits and debt. They need to step up. Hard to look a lot people in the face when I'm paying almost $30k/yr in federal taxes knowing there's a coin flip chance the person I'm talking to doesn't contribute to everything I'm paying for that they get to use. There should be a flat tax that's paid no matter what if you make income before being able to use the standard deduction.

Nope. The employer is paying both sides. We'll likely not agree on this, but it's true. The money never hits the employees hands. It's a cost of doing business to the employer. Pay is adjusted accounting for this. I also said Federal taxes. Never mentioned SS or medicare, so not sure why that was brought up. Increasing federal taxes for all would solve a lot of problems. 44% aren't putting $$$ into this main fund. That's a problem as someone paying 5 figures in just federal taxes.

I hate religion, but it's a weak way to argue that Republicans are bad. Bringing religion into a debate about taxes and deficits is a boneheaded meme.

How about we stop preventing people from getting ANY income with minimum wage laws and they're then reliant on welfare? That's where we're at. I'd argue it would be better to employ two people (learning some sort of skill in the process) for $7/hr compared to $15/hour for one. There's actually not much of an argument against this. The problem is healthcare and real estate (rent) are inflated industries propped by the system you want to take more money from me or the guy paying $200k in federal taxes.

Of the 44%, a good chunk might spend money in the economy, but they're likely a net negative. They COST us money. If you're not disabled or nuts, you should be fucking contributing. There's no excuse. That's my point.

Republicans don't want to actually try the case, and they have already said in advance Trump will be acquitted.
How unfair of democrats to want evidence that the White House blocked from being considered by the House hearings to actually be considered in the trial.
