Yes - and the South became much less racist once they stopped being electing Democrats to fire hose African Americans at lunch counters and college campuses.

By any honest metric, the South is much more integrated and less racist than it was 50 year ago. It is also much more Republican. Heck, the South is more integrated and less racist than many of the segregated apartheid conditions in big Democrat cities like New York, Boston and Chicago.

It still amazes me how the Democrats were able to re-write history and dump their terrible racist past on Republicans.

It would be the equivalent of the Democrats claiming to be historically the anti-abortion party 50 years from now.

If you're old enough, you might remember "ebonics". It was covered in the news as a school attempting to teach "black language". What actually was happening is that California skools were getting more funding when they were teaching English as a Second Language. As a result, they created this fake language to get the funding. The root of the problem is that kids have to be taught ESL because they are illegal immigrants and the law isn't enforced.
