Origins stories from fires tend to be obscure or 'kindlers of convenience'. How they are started and how they are fanned or spread could be different stories.

The fires in Bay Area a few years ago were genuine lightening started fires. However, I think that the big ones should nowadays be looked at as unnatural until proven otherwise. DEWs have such a screaming signature that they are clear and obvious if you see the signature after the fact. I don't know about this one until the smoke clears.
