Well, the idea is that patrick.net should be a place where people can amicably discuss anything, anonymously.

Deliberate offense is contrary to the "amicable" part.

What happened did you realize the Liberals are trying to kill you off, and they loathe anyone over the age of 30?

You're thinking of the Boomers. They are the ones who said never trust anyone over 30 until they got over 30.

I think your confusing young adults with liberals. Liberals come in all ages and most are over 30 because most people are over 30.

This place has changed A LOT since back in the day. Several of the most sane voices are gone, and it's dominated by people that worship at the alter of Trump.

It's always good to have some dissenting views. People can be mean, but if they got to know me personally they would probably still hate me. And, Patrick has been very cool to me, even though I'm a bleeding heart liberal social worker and he is - well, not.

So far as where I was... I was kidnapped by aliens. There were rectal probes (all with the initials "TPB" on them, whatever that means) and a lot of attempts at deprogramming me. You know, pictures of billionaires and their kids golfing and playing while they gleefully fuck the country, stripping of civil rights, elitist politics... But it didn't work.

There are a fair number of these, but most of them used to be liberals. What changed? The Democrats left them behind in their quest for purity politics and SJW Nazi tactics as well as discounting all opinions but the anointed ones coming from on high (the oligarch owner class). I’d say most of us are populists. Some right leaning, some left leaning, but we still believe that the people should have a say in our government rather than the appointed elites who by virtue of their superior Ivy League pedigrees know what is best for us all. Except that they don’t and they have led most of America into economic misery. So populism returns to popularity.

Yeah, the Democrats are doing what the Republicans did in the 1990s, eliminating anyone who isn't an extremist. There's nothing liberal about the Democrats and SJWs. They suppress free speech even more than the right wing radicals. Seems like both parties are dominated by a vocal and extreme minority that represents the worst of each party. There's no place for moderates in them anymore.

Not a social worker, but very concerned for the well being of US citizens, especially the poor.

What people are calling "right wing" is a concern that US workers are being screwed by powerful financial interests for profit, and that media accusations of !RACISM! have been deliberately orchestrated to stifle dissent about this ongoing injustice.

Come to think of it, any opposition to the real and massive harms of globalization is called "right wing" by the media these days.

That is a very fair point. The Republicans of that era were busy busting unions and shipping jobs overseas as soon as they got the legislation passed. Vulture capitalism was just getting into full rape mode with Mitt Romney leading the charge. Americans lost a lot in the 90s, and even more in the 00’s. The Democrats saw the writing on the wall and went with the Clinton bid to align the party with the corporatists and thus secure campaign funding in perpetuity.
On we went in that vein for another 25 years until the American working class was pretty fucking hollowed out. Our economy was based on servicing the rich, and thus very unstable.

Trump came along offering to actually address these underlying issues, and won the Presidency in a major upset as a result. Whether or not he has changed things or changed them enough to help Labor is up for debate, but what is not up for debate is whether the Democrats are ready to step back into their original pro-Labor role. They aren’t, and they’re ready to quash any such movement in their own ranks (Bernie). The Democrats are so anti-Labor and anti-populist that they are willing to run a senile old man who is practically guaranteed to lose rather than a populist (Bernie) who has a shot at winning.

A social work degree isn't necessary in order to have a social conscience. I do think that many people are basically good, and will help others. It's just that many people believe that it's the responsibility of each person to better themselves however they have to, while others believe that we all need to help out. It's when someone dictates how we help, who we help and when we help that the problems arrive.

I don't want to subsidize some billionaire's yacht. The billionaires don't want to subsidize poor people's healthcare because they might get an abortion.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

It's a special kind of logic skills that enable him to comprehend that the way to help the poorest Americans is if we can somehow get rid of those illegal immigrants that pick crops, cut grass, clean homes, take care of babies, painting exteriors etc. That is the only way we can undo the evil that was perpetuated by liberals who caused all of our problems. You know, with their massive welfare programs and their ridiculous open borders policies. Everyone knows that Obama had a extreme policy of getting as many illegal immigrants in as possible, all the facts to the contrary need to be magically ignored if you are the type of true Trump loving American that doesn't have a white supremacist bone in your body.

Those damn corporations have a very counter intuitive point of view. They somehow want more illegal immigrants in the country, the majority of which will vote democratic. And it's not becasue they employ them, becasue they largely don't. It's becasue of the indirect savings of their employees paying slightly less for fruit or veggies picked by those seasonal workers, or becasue of child care, or grass cutting, or house cleaning services that they get for a little less.

When one truly understands this, it has the side benefit of enabling them to understand that Trump never appealed to white racists. And in fact if you call any of the people that worship Trump racist, violence should be done to you.

Patrick is not a racist. But he will be happy to tell you why diversity is bad, and it bothers him that people don't know the statistics about black violent crime versus white violent crime, and that people really are different depending on their race.

:
No, I didn't mean that he would, I doubt he even wants to, but I deserve it, right ? By implying that I think he is a racist.

There's just a lack of intellectual honesty there.

I have a republican friend who voted for Trump, but admits how much of a total douchebag and embarrassment he is. And although he might deny Trumps racism, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't deny Trumps wanting the racist vote - or Trump's sixth sense for how significant white racism is in America. I had no idea. Now I realize that even the relative success Trumps campaign over Obama's birth certificate, was kind of a trial balloon. A good indicator of that hate/fear that was out there.

Too many Trump voters have the audacity to assert that Trump is not an absurdly divisive leader.

RC2006 says

Yes, becasue we all know that some adolescent antifa moron is representative of California liberals.

Trump being President is the facts not going everyone's way. The fact that there are some idiots that disagree is a fundamental part of the facts not going everyone's way.

The way I would frame it is, since Trump had no other way of being elected, he lowered himself to appealing to hate and fear, yes, partially based on racism.

I guess it might be argued that as many people were repulsed away from him by it as there were attracted to him. So who knows. I guess it's possible I'm wrong, that he won becasue of racism.

Some right wingers will try to claim that white folks that were repulsed by Trump on so many levels are actually somehow the real racists. Good luck with that. Either way there is way too much race and divisiveness around race in the picture, which is exactly what the oligarchs want.
48   HeadSet   2020 Apr 19, 7:08pm

Not enough constituency with "hate and fear" to get elected. His "other way to get elected" was by appealing to the working class and middle class by closing borders, bringing back manufacturing, and energy independence. Remember, Obama and the Dems at the time were talking about "managing the decline" and "how is Trump going to bring the jobs back, a magic wand?" Trump was a bit more optimistic.

Either way there is way too much race and divisiveness around race in the picture, which is exactly what the oligarchs want.

True, but the oligarchs do not want Trump. They are using "race and divisiveness" as a weapon against Trump.

Total bullshit and you must know it. Nobody is that stupid or that gullible.

If they know he's a conman and a liar, why would they believe he;s even trying to do this, let alone that he can ?

Appealing to a more deep hate and fear is more believable to me.

What do you mean "not forever?" The oligarchs did not want Trump elected, and do not want him now. Bezos, Gates, Buffet, Soros, Bloomberg, Koch, Cook, and owners of major networks and owners of national newspapers all have shown this.

All of us, at sometime in our lives, have done something that surely would have caused the Great & Mighty Patrick to feel compelled to punch us in our collective and separate faces. Not that there's anything wrong with that - feeling, that is.
