While unwilling to use the Defense Production Act to create desperately needed PPE or massively ramp up testing for the country, the mere possibility of not having his KFC or Wendy's burgers has pushed Trump to keep the butchering in full tilt. He knows his base would likely bolt without he seeing to their their fast food, meat addictions. It is the only thing standing between a sedated satiated society and canibal anarchy. He had no choice.

"WASHINGTON – Faced with worries of a meat shortage caused by the coronavirus, President Donald Trump plans to order meat-processing plants to remain open and will try to protect them from legal liability, , officials said Tuesday.

Trump plans to declare meat plants as critical infrastructure, and cite the Defense Production Act to justify an order to keep them open, said two officials familiar with the discussions, speaking on condition of anonymity because the order is not yet completed.

Trump could sign the order as early as Tuesday, officials said, and it will likely cover other types of food processing facilities.

Earlier, Trump said he did not fear any kind of food shortage.

"There's plenty of supply," Trump told reporters after meeting with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. "It's distribution."

You just started your post and you’re already wrong! Not a good beginning

So what is incorrect in that statement? Has Trump used "....the Defense Production Act to create desperately needed PPE or massively ramp up testing for the country" ? Pray tell? Or is it TDS to merely ask the question of his Majesty?

In that case, the threat was enough to force or perhaps “stimulate” compliance. It’s always easier to let someone carry out your orders than to force them to do so.

In this case, it’s an industry with many many problems, not the least of which is terrible working conditions, exploitation of illegal immigrants, and the lowest pay possible. Some federal oversight can only do good here.

First his, what is often called "jaw boning", hasn't worked well. We have neither enough tests or PPE, and as an aside we need PPE to keep these plants open, as they say shit flows down hill. And why take a chance? A real leader, as opposed to the cartoon character in the White House, takes charge and gets things done, and Trump has the authority. But as you say, "its always easier to let someone else..." do your job and then you can blame them when it doesn't get done or goes south and take credit if things work out. That is the Trump modus operandi.
