The protest in SF was good, maybe 100 people, press, 6 or 7 cops. No trouble.

Surprisingly wide cross section of society.

So, how is that Dem/ progressive day care working out for all you previously employed LibbyFucks? How about all you welfare termites when the Guv funding dries up? Aren't you so glad the Great Socialist Paradise is so concerned about The People?

Newsom is already asking for a federal bailout to keep unemployment pay going.

Just the beginning? You can imagine how much pus had to boil beneath the Socialist scab in a place like SF to even bring out 100 people.

Now the Grand Putz himself is back-peddling on the stay at home order while simultaneously treating his constituents like naughty children.
"when fielding a question on his mandated closure of Orange County beaches and parks, the governor seemed to suggest the beginning of the reopening may depend on the size of crowds he sees this weekend.
"Look, we’ll see what happens over the course of this weekend," he said. "If we have the kind of weekend that I hope and expect we will where we don’t see those huge crowds descend, then we’re going be in a position as early as Monday, Tuesday I hope to make some announcements on new strategies and partnerships that we’re working on in real time to address those large crowds."
In other words, 'If your little brother is bad, no one gets cookies.'

His ass got lit on fire. He doesn't want to be a deterrent for Democrat seats even in solid blue California come November.

I think he was given marching orders from the politbureau to hurt Trump as long as possible. Was never a fan but did not think he'd be a pussy. I expected him to open up come May 1st

Do you think this is hurting Trump? Trump said he wanted to open up on Easter and the PRESS vilified him. We're not locked down in Commiefornia because of Trump.

Meanwhile Trump lets Fauci give shitty advice, it is obvious Trump has some good high level doctor/researcher friends that told him about hydroxycholrioquine so he suggested it might help - but needed more research - current research I've heard about indicates it's quite effective. Anybody seeing in the media that it is ineffective or dangerous NOW? Gates is shooting his mouth off about the need for a vaccination even though we'll reach herd immunity long before then and there's never been a vaccine made for any coronavirus (there's been two before this: SARS and MERS).

That's something I really do appreciate about Trump. He brings in these fucking corrupt incompetent assholes, then says - "hey, you look like you need some rope. Here, have some more. Have some more. Have some more. Want more?"

He didn't get rid of Mueller and let that bullshit investigation go on forever basically saying "go ahead, TRY to find something on me assholes", and they couldn't after 3 years. He lets the media lie, doesn't threaten them with revoking their broadcast license (which he could). He lets the Democrats shoot their mouth off. I've seen Adam Shiff outright lie about what Trump said in a conversation with Ukraine. Trump let the impeachment go through without any protest.

He just keeps feeding his enemies more rope. He won't even step in to stop media censorship or big tech censorship. He just lets them prove they are not benign.

How many people have run into other people on the net who finally realized "Oh my god! I was wrong! These assholes really ARE this corrupt and evil! I'm so sorry for all the shit I threw at Trump supporters for the last 3 years! #Walkaway". I've seen more than a few.

People with TDS, they're not bad people. Just remember it's pretty hard to wrap your head around just how fucking corrupt our government is. I knew it was fucking corrupt 3 years ago, but I was off by a factor of 100. There is NOTHING redeemable about the Federal government. It's just pure garbage. If the swamp were to be drained this is what DC would look like:

People generally respected the Guv's request up to a point. That was, the point when they realized they lied about ending lockdown after 'flattening the curve'. Now, the beaches are closed as an act of punishment and government overreach. So, the Guv has shown it's true hand, not the one that claimed it was virtue signaling purposes to 'save lives' etc.

DNC: "Hey, Gavin, keep everybody and the economy down for another month until we find a way to blitz-blame Trump! Yeah, you know the song and dance about saving lives, chortle chortle! This will really help you in your future Presidential bid."

Best slogan at the SF protest today:

"Give me liberty or give me a 0.2% chance of death!"
19   clambo   2020 May 2, 12:30am

I’m amazed at how absurd the way the overlords have tried to panic and push around people based on nonsense.

In Santa Cruz County there never was a Wuhan pandemic.

It’s gotten so bad even the dimmest idiot knows it’s silly to kick us off the beach for no reason.

I’m borderline geezer so I’m wearing a mask in stores.

I hope Newsom gets crashed into by a crazed drunken illegal somewhere, he loves them so much.

Exactly right. No one should be forced to leave their home. The rest of us however should never have been forced to stay home!

Reopen America now, while there is still anything left worth saving!

I’m in their group. It’s definitely a mixed bag but mostly trending conservative (for California) which means they love to party and surf and they all have good jobs and they are solid citizens. It’s been forever since such people got out and protested. It’s good to see!

What's fucked up still no services for regular people. Fuck Gavin and the leftoids. I mean you're paying taxes and a bunch of monthly fees for health, education, childcare, etc. and those are basically on hold while you keep paying. People should stop paying their bills until they get the services connected to those bills. SF still has Tennis courts locked - people will have to climb the fences and fight the leftoid city tyrants.

Yes! Gandhi would be proud.

The English General said - "You don't think we're just going to walk out of India!"

Gandhi replied - "Yes. In the end, you will walk out. Because 100,000 Englishmen simply cannot control 350 million Indians, if those Indians refuse to cooperate."
34   Patrick   2020 May 2, 8:30pm

So perhaps we need to synchronize the defiance.

Let's pick a certain date and time to "tresspass" our own facilities en masse.

These are hard chain locks and I don't own any chain cutters. I prefer to climb the fence as sort of non-damaging protest and just play til we get chased away. On that note I was riding the bike in GG Park today and the grass was packed with partiers, even in SF the tide may be turning against the draconian lockdown. It was a beautiful day and people simply can't stay at home isolated anymore without going nuts.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2020/05/02/gov_newsom_puts_politics_over_data_in_california_shutdown_143100.html

Los Angeles County, which has implemented the most draconian beach closures in the country, has in excess of 1,000 coronavirus deaths. Orange County, which has consistently taken a less restrictive approach, has had 45 deaths going into this weekend. Orange County’s population of 3.3 million is larger than 22 states. If it were a state, Orange County’s death rate of 0.0014% would be the 49th lowest in the country. The primary hospital in Newport Beach has a 475-beds capacity and has never treated more than 25 people for coronavirus issues at any given time. The leaders of that hospital system believe that the curve has flattened, and that Orange County needs to responsibly reopen.

Against this backdrop of public health – and in favor of placing data and reality over politics and hysteria – the Newport Beach City Council voted this week to keep its beaches open. Data from across the country demonstrated that open beaches do not lead to a spike in cases of COVID-19. Los Angeles County closed their beaches over a month ago and data now shows that every single Los Angeles County beach community has a higher per capita infection rate than Orange County’s open beach communities. Brevard County, Florida with a population of 600,000 has largely kept their beaches open throughout the crisis. That county has seen 8 deaths and 47 hospitalizations in total. Duval County, Florida, with a population of nearly 1 million, opened its beaches nearly two weeks ago and has seen no ascertainable spike. On April 26, it had four new cases. In other words, sunlight, heat, and wide-open, outdoor spaces are not conducive to the spread of COVID-19.

This is especially true if beachgoers practice social distancing. In our decision to open the beaches, we planned to add more signs reminding beachgoers to use common sense. We also planned to deploy additional lifeguards and police officers to ensure that beachgoers continued to use the beach responsibly. It was a good compromise based upon the actual conditions on the ground.

However, 428 miles away in Sacramento and without consulting with a single Newport Beach official, Gov. Gavin Newsom decided to substitute his will for our judgment, shutting down the entire 42 miles of Orange County coastline, including Newport’s. He did this in part based upon widely disseminated and wildly misleading media photographs taken to give the false impression that Newport’s beaches were packed with people that were declining to use distancing. Local fire and police authorities reviewed this media depiction and agreed that it was misleading. What they “observed from land and by air was the vast majority of beach goers practicing social distancing.”

The fundamental question is whether Californians going to the beach is dangerous. A governor who shuts down beaches in the name of health and safety when open beaches do not actually threaten health or safety exceeds his Constitutional authority. The idea that Californians are in greater danger at the beach than they are when visiting Costco or Walmart, or for that matter, an open marijuana dispensary, is preposterous.

Children digging in the sand, teenagers surfing, and people reading a good book in a beach chair threatens the health and safety of no one. It is time for Gavin Newsom to stop pretending otherwise. Let cities and counties do their jobs and respond to the needs of their local populations. Let facts prevail over false media narratives. Keep the beaches open.

In the meantime, every single closure sign in Orange County should have our governor’s name on it. People will want to know who stripped them of their freedom of movement without data to support it.

Will O’Neill is the Mayor of Newport Beach, CA

That number (45 deaths in OC) is so divergent as to seem nearly impossible.

Isnt sunshine a deterrent? Or has that not been established? Its hard to follow the facts in this world of lies, so im hedging my assumptions as possible fake news.

Is the orange county sunshine = lower infection rates a legit assumption?

Neighboring la County has 1000 deaths. I don’t know the numbers but know there was a pretty big issue in neighboring riverside county and nearby San Bernardino county as well.

Election Year Panic Pandemic will end when it has been wrung out of anti-Trump sentiment, although that seems to be backfiring.

Feel the warm, fuzzy love from your free shit politicians who won't suffer a shred of loss from this and are even positioned to profit?
