People like that are super emotional thinkers. You have to draw them out and get them to talk about their feelings, and which ones are linked to politics. Maybe they had a friend deported or a contract cancelled due to local politics. It’s usually something stupid that’s making them think irrationally. Find out what that thing is and you can convert them very easily by asking them to explain why they feel that way. Like you really want to understand but really don’t know. And when they’re done, ask questions. Keep them honest gently. Ask them how they know certain things. Suggest that people have other opinions about that thing. And then ask them to find some evidence to the contrary just for shits and giggles. When you’re operating on the side of the truth, you have to lead people there with the Socratic method. They have to discover it themselves.

EIther they are mental Bohemian types that thinks the world is their piss pot, or they are people who have made a very comfortable life for themselves, that gaurantees Dominion over those that are not Liberal Arts well conected and in a possition that they can never be fired without an act of Congress. Those same people relish at the thought of every middle class Nuclear family that were driven out of their job, homes and divorced and living in one br appartments or relatives. I suggest researching cognitive dissonance. How to trigger it greatly, and how to help them digest and land. An above advice seems legit by my experience... it can not come from you. If you somehow crack the shell or get an "in", co-study of logical fallacies and personal biases would be the long-term cure. Hell, you might even find something flawed in yourself with that. Introspection and self-reflection is increasingly rare by my observation.

This is how I've always thought about over achieving, educated people. You put it into writing perfectly. My former boss had a degree and masters degree and was a complete and total moron. Same with another coworker there with a ph.d. Hell my own father got his undergrad, masters and law degree I think in 5 years. He actually did okay, but made some awful decision in the years leading up to the housing bust. He's gone now, but one real estate bet just paid off and my mom got half a million last month.

Then there's my 8 figure net worth uncle who can barely read and barely finished high school, who ran a successful construction business and got into real estate young. Now has multiple commercial/industrial properties paid off and cash flowing 20K/mo. Some of it's luck and some of it's hard work, and not work as in getting a bunch of pieces of paper from an institution.
