I was not into guns at all despite living in Texas and most of my neighbors possessing huge arsenals. Then, the scamdemic lockdowns started, I could hear occasional gunshots at night, and situation seemed to deteriorate, and I made a common-sense purchase of a shotgun, ammunition for it, and a gun safe. After that, why not buy a few handguns? And then why not a rifle or two or three? Then, why not get a concealed carry permit and go to a range on an occasional Sunday?

I blame Democrats and lockdown supporters for my only addiction.

Sincerely,

a non-recovering gunaholic

Herewith my gun story.
I loved to shoot my bb gun and later my father’s cool pellet gun.
Sometimes I set up toy soldiers and saw how far I could shoot them from.

Decades later my friend’s brother invited me to go shooting.
I always went along and eventually felt like a loser always shooting his gun.
Pistol shooting is fun because it’s a challenge.
I went to buy one and rented a bunch of them. At a place in Watsonville CA they had CZ75s.
“Try this out, you’ll like it.”
NO SHIT. The CZ75 was better than anything I had shot, so I bought one.
It’s full size, and in Florida I thought I should buy a compact CZ to carry. I got a CZ75 P01, a probably perfect gun.
Uh-oh, gun #2 and the addiction can begin if I am not careful.
I found the CZP01 was still too big to carry around so I got a Glock 42 in .380 calibre for Florida concealed carry.
I’m presently off the addiction because ammo is scarce again, but I am thinking of buying a Ruger 57.
I don’t carry the Glock on me, but it’s in the car.
The awesome CZ guns are in the closet.

I find myself dropping by the CA guns reddit and picking up trivia like: the Tavor TS12 shotgun is legal in California. Who knew?

Why wouldn't it be? It has no detachable mag, vertical forward grip or any other "evil features".

@Rb6d
There are excellent clones of CZ guns for much less money, I suggest checking out Tristar/Canik made in Turkey.

I have a Tristar T-100 which I bought as a gift for a friend in Michigan who never claimed it (changed her mind about it). It’s a lot like the CZ P01.

This one would be an excellent addition to my arsenal!
Tavor TS12 (Israeli semi-automatic bullpup shotgun, based on the IWI Tavor assault rifle.)

I tried a lot of guns then bought my cz75 spo1 its an awesome gun I've probably put 2k rounds through it.

For the truly addicted to 9mm guns, at no consideration of cost, I suggest:
1. Pardini GT 9
2. Sig Sauer P210

Not to mention it seems like it would be fun at the range.
11   GNL   2021 May 10, 4:41pm

If you could only choose 5 guns, what would they be and what caliber?

ME:
AR .223
Semi auto pistol 9mm (SW M&P)
Ruger 10/22 OR 17HMR OR 22 WMR
12 gauge semi auto (Benelli - too expensive so probably a Black Aces Pro Series made in Turkey)
.270 (Browing X-Bolt or Remington 700)

What is the rule of thumb for diagnosing addiction?
Is it the shear number of rounds? Or diversity of caliber that makes your realize you have a problem.
13   Bd6r   2021 May 10, 4:57pm

I have not thought about top 5.

A few things I have bought:

For lugging around and keeping in car, S&W 63 22LR. Light, and has 8 shots. Wife is happy with its carry weight and very little recoil.
For fun at range, Swiss k31.
For home defense, 12 ga Remington 870 pump action.
To remember my younger days in socialist block, Russian made SKS.

Recently bought, with some scandal at home, SSG-04, which is not the cheapest of the guns. Have not shot it yet since I need to buy some optics.
14   stfu   2021 May 10, 5:09pm

Okay we're doing this. Everyone get their dicks out.

Ruger P95 (9mm)
Taurus .38 special
S&W EZ .380
H&K AR15 in .22 LR
AR15 in 300 blackout (PlumCrazy lower, not sure about the upper).

Rounds : Over 5000. Yeah I realize you should standardize on one type of ammo but all of these were impulse buys. I gotta admit that bullpup has me googling shotguns right now.

Dayum, nice. .300 or .308?

Check out this little beast. Can fire 410 shells and any other caliber. This would make a sweet ass side carry for driving. Carjackers beware.

That's why I went heavy on 9mm, 12 gauge and .223. The .270 may not be ideal. Probably 30-06 would be a better choice for availability.
18   GNL   2021 May 10, 5:28pm

1 thing about the Bond Arms derringer that makes it great, other than the size, is the double barrels can be swapped out for different calibers with 1 screw. Yep, 1 screw. I gotta get me one of those.

Or should you really? Different calibers dry up in different times: for example when 9mm was nowhere to be found 40S&W was still available.

In a TEOTWAWKI scenario, 9mm will be plentiful. Standard caliber for many many organizations, military etc. Same with .223.

I imagine the sound of racking a shell is almost as effective as pulling the trigger, and a lot less messy.

The fact that I want to buy more guns...and more ammo...and after I research and buy a gun, high lasts for only a few weeks. Afterwards I get a withdrawal syndrome and want something else...for example @Clambo post made me research CZ75 P01. I am confident that in a month or so I will buy it.

After I go to range and shoot off 100 rounds, I replace them with 2-300 rounds "just in case".

Racking a semi auto shotgun sounds almost the same.

Right, you probably have to hold that one tight when shooting shotgun shells. Looks like you get just one at a time too.

For gun enthusiasts who love a great story. This is still one of my favorite books. My son is listening to it, got hooked pretty quick. Gun lore intensive but not obnoxiously so!

Just looking at this the other day. 45 Long Colt and 410.

Perfect "Snake Gun" as in "I knew you were a Snake, before you tried to open my car door"

@clambo,

returning to purchases of cz handguns, have you shot cz 75 shadow, and if yes, how does it compare with p01 (other than price, of course)?

I chanced upon some relatively cheap 9 mm ammo, so now I am back to addiction and need to purchase another handgun.
34   AmericanKulak   2021 Jun 3, 5:22pm

38   clambo   2021 Jun 3, 6:58pm

Rb6d, I never shot the CZ Shadow.
I'm sure it's a great shooter.
It's a better target gun than the P01.
It's going to have a better trigger, longer sight radius, less recoil, etc.
If someone were interested in competition he could use that gun.
39   BayArea   2021 Jun 3, 10:47pm

I also bought my first gun during the pandemic.

Glock19 from BassProShop in San Jose.

If no pandemic, I probably wouldn’t have bought one anytime soon.
40   Patrick   2021 Jun 3, 10:49pm

In a way maybe the plandemic was a good thing for gun rights in the long run. Lots more owners now, and they won't want to turn them over.
