AAA Lists Most Expensive States for Gas: 9 of Top 10 Are Run by Democrats
David Hawkins March 8, 2022

According to AAA here are the most expensive states for gas as of Monday:

The American Automobile Association (AAA) has listed the top-ten most expensive states to buy gas, nine of which are run by Democrats.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.06 and rising.

The average is now 45 cents more than a week ago, 62 cents more than a month ago, and $1.30 more than a year ago.

And it promises to get worse as the West debates banning Russian oil.

AAA has released a list of the ten states with the most expensive gas prices and most are blue states.

The only red state in the top ten is Alaska, which surprisingly comes in at number 6.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said:

“There are few words to describe the unprecedented rise in gasoline prices over the last week, with massive spikes coast to coast in both gasoline and diesel prices, as oil prices jump to their highest since 2008. ...

California: $5.34
Hawaii: $4.69
Nevada: $4.59
Oregon: $4.51
Washington: $4.44
Alaska: $4.39
Illinois: $4.30
Connecticut: $4.28
New York: $4.26
Pennsylvania: $4.23

One nice thing about $6.00 gas in LA is that the traffic is much better! My commutes are fairly tolerable lately! And I drive a hybrid so I’m not feeling the pinch much. Seriously less cars on the road. The oldsters are forced to keep their Oldsmobiles garaged and not take random pleasure drives to slow down traffic. Otherwise they’ll have to eat cat food.

Really? Why? Democrats would love to have $8/gallon (or more) gasoline in the US.

Yeah I was going to say, Biden isn't trying to fix anything. Him and his party are trying really hard to force social change and a "great reset", this is just step 1 out of 99. Fixing gas prices is not in their plan.

if Biden wants to not destroy the Democratic party, he NEEDS to get fuel prices down.

I hear your governor/legislature has pushed a law requiring gas station owners to put a message on receipts stating that this year's 2 cent addition to the gas tax has been delayed. Also making grocers put on their receipts verbiage about a delay in tax on groceries. Free propoganda.

Fucking $6.50 for 91, or $6.10 for 87.

What choice do I have other than bitching about it? Went to white house and sent them contact form and called them faggots for letting gas prices spike so high. I know won't do much, but that's the only feedback I can give them.

It's not affecting how much I drive, I drive when I need to, not for funsies. Shit is costing me a lot more though.

Do you believe Joe Biden really got elected? That he got the most votes as a percentage of eligible voters ever? That he's literally the most popular presidential candidate in all of US history?

If he did get elected, yes, he'll have to fix it. If he didn't get elected, he doesn't have to fix anything, and in fact, nothing will be fixed. I don't believe he was elected.

Can't you see what a joke our government is yet? We just got installed onto the supreme court a woman whose main qualifications is she's female and black. She's also very soft on child rapists and pornographers, and she is the one that prosecuted the case of that guy that went into Comet Ping Pong pizza who fired a single shot, that conveniently destroyed the hard disk of a computer on site.

It's a joke. Biden could literally nominate a horse to the supreme court and it would be confirmed. The entire system is a joke.

No issues in getting gas in this part of the Northeast. Gas Buddy reports it at $4.259 in my area. Haven't bought gas in a while though.
150   clambo   2022 May 17, 4:26am

What's odd is that Mexico gasoline prices at the same price they were back in October.

It's about 20 pesos/liter. 20 pesos=$1 USD 1 US gallon=3.785 liters=$3.79 per gallon.

The government Mexico has controls over prices of some things which are considered essential, including some foodstuffs, electricity, etc.

It's a little weird because while Mexico produces crude oil, it must import some gasoline from the USA.

For my friends in Mexico, $3.79 is still very much money to spend on this necessity.

los angeles county, various gas stations. most are close to $7, some are over $7. I live in the San Fernando Valley, this isn't a ritzy area. I imagine beverly hills just bends people over at gas stations, fucks them in the ass, and tells them to learn to like it.

Gasbuddy is a great website to find the cheapest gas prices in your zipcode.

Patrick and the Californians on patnet are fucked just looking at the average gas prices by zipcode in California. Governor Newsom should have a tax holiday and cut the gas tax and sales tax.

I know gas prices hurt for everyone, but who actually pays attention? Around 10 years ago I stopped giving a shit about prices. Drive a gas guzzling SUV. I notice now that I fill $100+ if close to E, but that's once a week and doesn't really move the needle financially for us. Wife's gas is paid for by the company. We could get a minivan to be more efficient gas wise..... said no guy ever.

SUV space, comfort and towing. Can't do that with a minivan. Also, very mild off roading/camping SUV has a higher clearance on rough dirt/gravel roads.
157   zzyzzx   2022 May 20, 5:49am

It’s a massive disaster for low and middle income Los Angeles residents. I’m talking mostly people in the $40-80k range(no one with income lower than that should be driving a car in LA). Public transportation in LA curently is not safe or sanitary due to the explosion of homeless people thanks to Eric Garcetti. So driving 30-40 miles a day to get to work and back, in mostly non electric vehicles that are older and likely gas guzzlers….we are talking several hundred dollars a month more for people that don’t have that much money.

Right, but you still can't cross LA in daytime without hitting multiple hellish traffic jams, so gas prices still aren't high enough to change habits ( driving or voting).

The only way it does is if it gets worse in Los Angeles than it does in Mexico as far as socioeconomic such as pubic education, standard of living and crime.

This happened to me too. Electric consumption went up while the electricity bills went down after switching to the EV plan.

I’m a yolo, within my means, type of guy. I run the A/C full blast when hot and crank up the heater when cold. I’ll save when it’s convenient, but will not go out of my way and try to save when it’s not.

Life is short. Do what makes us happy. Can’t take anything with us when we’re gone.

$7 per gallon at California minimum wage of $15 per hour is 28 minutes of labor in exchange for a gallon, in a modest 20 mpg vehicle will cost us about a minute and a half of labor to drive one mile. Half that amount, about 45 seconds of minimum wage labor, if we carpool with just one other person.

Super-cheap, super bargain. Bargain Of The Millenia.

Yes, like my in laws in the Philippines.

Like I wrote in the post above, $20 per gallon gasoline will cost you about a minute and a half of California Minimum Wage Labor to drive a modest 20 mpg vehicle one mile. That's if your the kind of California driver who doesn't like to share: about 45 seconds of labor if you carpool with one other person.

Nothing like that Bargain for everyday folks or minimum wage folks in places like Mexico and the Philippines.

But instead of being grateful we will bitch and complain and blame everyone (except ourselves for the choices we've made), and we won't cut our cost in half by sharing (carpooling).

I saved a lot of money as it takes money to make money. I reached critical mass for savings (as Bob Brinker would say) so I could work at home and work on what I wanted to work on. Working from home earns me extra income so I can live more carefree like setting the thermostat to 69 during summer.

Pretty much. Same way I would decline a job if I had to fly to it every day. Moreover, if this is a minimal wage job - it's a commodity, meaning there is another one just like it much closer by. Probably held now by some other dumb fuck driving to it in the opposite direction.

I thought this was a discussion about who would be hurt by $20 gas? I gave a great example of a pretty common situation. That’s the end of the thread.

Now the poors need to carpool to clean your office, cook your food, cut your hair? Okay, sure. Let’s just jack the gas prices to $40 then. They can live in the pods and eat bugs, not going to effect me any.

$20 gas turns us into a 3rd world country and destroys the American dream. Work as hard as you want, you’ll be priced out of any safe urban areas close to work and it will be too expensive to move to the suburbs.

How about paying them more to do stuff like that? Like a living wage?

What is so bad with ride sharing, anyway? I did it when I was not struggling financially. Share expenses, share time with others. Less stressful commute. What's not to like? You don't like sharing? I am sorry, that says more about you than it does about the transportation cost.

Besides you missed my point anyway: liquid fuels, what you get for what you pay, the kilojoules or whatever, are dirt cheap, even at $20 per gallon. Doesn't mean folks who arranged their lives around cheap long distance commuting won't be hurt. They will be hurt. Like I said, we will blame everyone except ourselves for the choices we made. Who would you like to blame, homie? You wanna blame me for saying it? Won't change the reality.

Oh good lord. There was a company that offered carpooling from Oakland to Mountain View in California - a LOT Of people do this, but it was a complete clusterfuck. I knew a guy that tried it repeatedly, and it was a disaster. People wouldn't show up sometimes, other times, they would have to stay late at work, or leave early from work, there was a guarantee in the app that if you were stranded you could get a Uber or even a taxi to get back home. I doubt that company exists any more.

You can carpool PROVIDED you live next door or very close to a co-worker, you KNOW.
