the banks should "HODL" ... don't cash out the bonds as long as they can ...

those bonds will drop in price about 1% for every year of duration when interest rates increase by 1% and I understand a lot of banks are holding +10 year duration bonds that were bought when the Fed Funds rate was 0.25% from 2009 to 2022 (except for brief period of 2018- mid 2020)

the Fed may need to help out with these banks like they did Silicon Valley Bank ... Bank of America's stock price is at April 1997 levels and Wells Fargo's stock price is at 2008 price levels :-/

but yes Bank of America is at a very low PE ratio (about 7) as its equity has significantly dropped due to owning US Treasuries .. if banks do not go bankrupt, then they will recover and start a new cycle of recovery

“We Are Now on the Brink”: Billionaire Investor Says a US Civil War Likely

There could be a 40% chance of a new US civil war breaking out, according to billionaire investor Ray Dalio.

In an interview with the Financial Times on Thursday, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, said that the probability of civil strife is higher than it has ever been.

“We are now on the brink,” he said. The US faces “much more turbulent times.”

This is not the first time Dalio has made such a warning. In late 2020, he suggested the US was already “seeing a form of civil war.” He was referring to internal movements within the nation as large numbers of people moved to other states for political and financial reasons.

A few months later, he said America is in a “terrible financial state and terrible financially divided.”

Yes, and anyone "not competent to stand trial for a shooting" should be in an asylum.

If America survives the decade I will be amazed. And even if it does you won’t recognize it. I can barely recognize what we have become in the past decade. I don’t think we can take 10 more years of this.

But first we have to survive the year and that may prove challenging enough. By 2027 I’m guessing that America may be the land of the free or the home of the brave no more. The Rapture could be the catalyst for America’s coup de grâce.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, on Dec. 30, 2023, Anthony had driven to a McDonald’s restaurant in the 1330 block of South Laredo Street, just south of downtown, when she began complaining about her order to the drive-through cashier.

The affidavit states that Anthony then fired multiple gunshots from the drive-side car window into the second drive-thru window. At least eight gunshots were fired into the window, with employees working and the business open, police said.
