Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement,[1][2][3] characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.
The problem with that definition is that it’s disqualifying from the first sentence: “Far-right” is meant to immediately rule out anything the Left does. But that isn’t the real definition. It can be far leftist and it was under both Hitler and Mussolini.
Funny how the term Fascist has evolved from the traditional "Political philosophy that believes in total government control but not ownership of the means of production" to a term for anyone who fights Socialism.
