Not believing it. February isn't even done. No one lists until March or April to sell during spring and move in the summer. Median "value" is likely median "listing price" which the article states. So no it's not value.

I don't care about the layoffs, but say it's a touch misleading. List prices alway drop in winter regardless. Seasonal layoffs. Who the hell wants to move. Not all of the Fed is in DC either.

Basically, all of those past presidents claiming to be interested in government efficiency were blowing smoke up our asses as publicity stunts. They knew this crap was going on forever.

The standard age factor is 2% at age 62. If you retire before

President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has just uncovered an eye-watering and unprecedented abuse of taxpayer funds.

The Elon Musk-led DOGE team has discovered an identification code linking U.S. Treasury payments to an “untraceable” budget line item.

The untraceable payment line accounts for a shocking $4.7 trillion in taxpayer funds that were funneled into a black hole, with no record of where the money went.

In a post on X, DOGE wrote:

“The Treasury Access Symbol (TAS) is an identification code linking a Treasury payment to a budget line item (standard financial process).

“In the Federal Government, the TAS field was optional for ~$4.7 Trillion in payments and was often left blank, making traceability almost impossible.

“As of Saturday, this is now a required field, increasing insight into where money is actually going.”

DOGE thanked the U.S. Treasury for the department’s work in identifying the optional field.

I don't mean you but, all of us. We really have no idea what the truth is when it comes to all of this stuff. I don't expect much, if anything, to change. Fraud, waste and abuse will live for eternity.

Not all, but most teachers do part time work. Men specifically. My BIL would get hired by a painter and paint decks and houses in the summer. W-2. A lot though would go for cash jobs.

He's dead now, but a lot of teachers fuck up big time. Get part time W-2 non-government work throughout the years. It's another check on top of the pension. Might be small, but better than nothing. Always pisses me off when teachers bitch about not getting SS. You didn't pay in and could have.

Neither do railway workers, I believe.

Guv employees with other retirement plans can 'opt out' of SS payments, which they usually do, since the alternate Guv plans are better. I know the Lab guys in Livermore have very nice retirement plans and get to keep the SS dole to spend.

Congress don't pay SS either, because in addition to all the graft, bribery and insider training, they have fabulous medical and 'retirement' that they have self assigned.

SS used to be 15 percent off the top of the paycheck, with the payee paying half (7.5 percent) and the employer paying half. That's a lot over a working life for so little return at the end compared to standard investments. It's especially bloody painful when it is use to subsidize the illegals and doled out whatever grifty grafty way the politicians see fit to whomever. Now, add that to the insult that it is also laundered away, and somebody needs to be burned at the stake.
