Consider the founders: Mohammed murdered everyone who opposed him. Jesus let himself be murdered.

There are recent Christian converts in India, attempting to better their position by opting out of the Hindu caste system. Or at least that's my understanding.

But there are also very ancient Christian communities in India. I worked with a Christian from Kerala who says that Christians have been there since 300 AD or so.
