Mueller noted that his team indicted more than two dozen Russians in connection with their alleged roles in hacking Democratic networks and accounts and with trying to interfere in the campaign via social media. But instead of saying that there was “no collusion” by the Trump team with that effort — a term that the report itself explicitly rejected in its consideration of what happened — Mueller explained what his investigators found in more nuanced terms.

What's funny is that the other day Mueller said he wasn't going after anybody who couldn't be faced with justice...

And yet charged two dozen Russians highly unlikely to ever make themselves available in a US jurisdiction for arrest!

Sorry, Mueller, you don't get to be the FBI Chief.

I'm sure Hatfill is disappointed.

A tax on imports is a citizens long term investment. A temporary tax to gain long term benefits. Doped up Libtardfuckers only analyze short term benefits/costs.

Trump said we'd put a tariff of 5% starting June 10th, if Mexico doesn't stop the hordes coming across our borders. Some say the US consumers pay this. Funny though, the Peso dropped about 3% in value today (it'll probably drop the other 2% by the 10th), so the prices the US pays will be about the same. It is the Mexican workers who get paid less via the depreciated Peso.

If that is really the case, then clearly Trump should go directly to a much higher tariff rate. Plus we have no idea how much is paid for at current exchange rates vs long term contracts that may be hedged.
103091   Misc   2019 May 31, 8:34am

Yes, there are a lot of factors at play, but saying 100% will be paid by US consumers is just false.

If the peso drops in value to the US dollar doesn't that just provide more incentive to cross the border? Not to mention making the money remitted back to Mexico more valuable?

Are you expecting the value of the peso to drop 5% every month?

I don't think it helps the elites that live in Mexico and have control of the government who have been turning a blind eye on the caravans and cartels smuggling in thousands and thousands of people every week.

Well you called Congress in 2018. However populism is rising globally not falling. France and Britain just went majority populist, and Italy went more populist. The EU is crumbling. Trump’s approval numbers went to 48 approve in the latest Harvard poll.
However, racism is down considerably since Obama left the Oval Office. It would seem that (aside from Democrats), people are done with that.

Thankfully Trump is acting as irrationally as I expected. That should shut down White supremacist for the next 20 years.

The dems are embracing racism more every day, while their poll numbers drop. Sad.

The Mueller investigation is over, now we're going a different way with this thing. And you aren't invited.

The benefits of a secure border and a properly enforced immigration/refugee policy are too numerous to state on a blog like this.
If you really have to ask, you have no business discussing the subject...

And that long term benefit is?

100% agreed. Also the losses in the market are fairly small so far.

Like I said, once tariffs are lifted the border will be just as insecure and there won't be any lasting changes to immigration policies. I know you'd like to believe different but that doesn't mean it will be.

Nope, then tariffs come back on, much better than dealing via the military with it. This has beneficial effects for the US long and short term.

Even so, if Trump said he would expose the lies of anyone who composes, Dems would salivate "obstruction!"

Without the EU, not only will they lose a big market, they will lose all the negotiating power in their trade talks(may war) with China/USA/India/ASEAN.

1)Trump has said he can’t wait to trade with an independent UK.
2)China will trade with anyone, deals will be made that must be made.
3)India is like China, but also as an ex colony, has British roots that go deep. No worry there.
4)Other Asian nations are like China as well.

The only concern is the EU itself, if it decides not to trade with the UK. Yet the EU would also be a big loser in this case, as such a decision would be terribly unpopular with Europeans at large who would lose. This would only inspire more EU nations to exit the EU, as they are already doing.

Long term, I wouldn’t buy Euros. The EU will be down to just Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg in less than ten years.

If Mexico does try to hamper the hordes, once the tariffs are lifted it will be back to business as usual.

Not likely. I'm under the impression that most agreements we make between countries tends to last and be adhered to for quite a while. Right?

The idea is to pressure Mexico into creating new laws and policies to our liking. Sure, they may stop once Trump leaves office, but they risk political backlash, just like they would for going back on their word for any other agreement.

Yes I believe shit won't stick. These tariffs are in direct violation of USMCA

If Democrats want to enforce this, all they have to do is bring the USMCA treaty up for a vote in congress. But Pelosi doesn’t want to do that, to make the treaty official, because she can’t give Trump a win. I just find it ironic that you want to hide behind an unratified trade treaty when your side is the very reason it is unratified!
Pathetic.
103116   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 May 31, 11:20pm

RafiMaas says
You do realize niether Mexico nor Canada have ratified either... Right? Didn't know Pelosi had so much power that she ratifies it for all three countries.

All three countries signed the renegotiation months ago in November.

When the International Trade Commission (Executive) presents the Bill to Congress, they have a limited time to draft legislation to empower the terms renegotiated, if any.

No amendments are possible. No fillibusters are possible.

Then, the MUST send the bill to a floor vote, regardless of Ways and Means Committee, the Speaker, or anybody else. Then it goes to the Senate, similar shit happens there.

So the Dems can't simply ignore the USMCA indefinitely. Once they're given it, they have only days before it's required to go to the Floor.

Ironically, this process, the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) mechanism, was passed in Congress by Fugitive Traitors ("Free Traders") in order to limit and prevent debate on new trade deals which were then (2015) seen as almost certainly beneficial Wall Street's and foreign lobbyists' benefits. Mostly in order to head off challenges to TPP specifically. TPP wasn't enacted in 2016 because Obama didn't want to poison Hillary's campaign. She had every intention of passing it in 2017 or 2018 after some toothless token language about the environment and labor rights with no enforcement or conditions were added. With the help of Romney, Amash, Pelosi, Feinstein, etc.

Which is why she kept saying "As it's currently written" so as to deflect claims she reneged on her promises when she would sign the TPP in 2017-2018, which she called the "Gold Standard" for years, until she announced in 2015. And even then, Podesta and Palmeri and others had to basically corner and badger her consistently in the early days to oppose it in her campaign rhetoric. This is why Itau and Citigroup were giving her 6 figure speaking fees.

Think Trump is dumb? More 4D Chess Sun Tzu Shit. Free Traders hoisted by their own Patard. Hung on the very rope they fashioned to wring the neck of working America with TPP.

If the Dems think they're going to win in Indiana and Ohio and Pennsylvania by holding up NAFTA Reform, they can think again - Dems can't just keep it off the table and avoid the issue, nor can they amend it AT ALL.

And don't count on having Trudeau, who along with his buddy Freeland, are now enjoying the worst approval rating of any Canadian Government in decades, because of the SNC-Lavalin Scandal - which resulted in two cabinet resignations along with the head of the Civil Service - and the disastrous Pipeline debacle that has held up a huge jobs project in the West.

Elections happen in the fall, and he has precious little time to mend the Liberal's reputation, and can't risk more Economic and Political difficulties.

Which Candidate Said This?

I do not buy the concept, popular in the ’60s, which said, “We have suppressed the black man for 300 years and the white man is now far ahead in the race for everything our society offers. In order to even the score, we must now give the black man a head start, or even hold the white man back, to even the race. I don’t buy that,” (REDACTED) told a (STATE REDACTED, too easy) weekly newspaper in 1975. “I don’t feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather.I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation. And I’ll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago.”

And can he effectively double talk his way out of it, if asked for his current opinion on the subject.
