Apparently they like the cut of great leader's jib. He's old, white, and his amoral sociopathic tendencies scare the crap out of most of those smarty pants elitist educated intelligent folks.

What's not to like ?

Oh look, the Economy is on fire, Unemployment at 50 year lows, strong wage gains not seen since the late 90s.

Predictions of economic collapse if OrangeManBad got in have been royally trounced and look ridiculous. Right down to the inability to work on the trade deficit and the inevitable rise of CHYNA.

All of a sudden the Democrats became Deficit Hawks, who woulda thunk it? I guess Medicare-for-all would be revenue-neutral, amirite?

Actually, going back to at least Clinton, democrats have been clearly way more fiscally responsible than republicans.

You're right. The economy has been decent (only), with gdp growth to the obama years. What is it now ?

This is in spite of Trump, not becasue of him. I think the economy would have been similar with Clinton, but with way less new debt. . Because of the lower deficit spending, we might have had a recession by now, but that has to happen sooner or later anyway.

Clinton was forced into it by a Republican takeover of Congress in 1994.

As for caring about Deficits, that's only when the Dems aren't in Power:
2004: Not tax cuts! Deficits Horrible!
Back then, a disapproving Krugman called the deficit "comparable to the worst we've ever seen in this country. ... The only time postwar that the United States has had anything like these deficits is the middle Reagan years, and that was with unemployment close to 10 percent." Take away the Social Security surplus spent by the government, he said, and "we're running at a deficit of more than 6 percent of GDP, and that is unprecedented."

2010: Spend and Spare Not, Obama

We must guard against "deficit hysteria." In "Fiscal Scare Tactics," his recent column, Krugman writes: "These days it's hard to pick up a newspaper or turn on a news program without encountering stern warnings about the federal budget deficit. The deficit threatens economic recovery, we're told; it puts American economic stability at risk; it will undermine our influence in the world. These claims generally aren't stated as opinions, as views held by some analysts but disputed by others. Instead, they're reported as if they were facts, plain and simple."

Will Medicare-for-all be revenue neutral and not impact the Deficit and National Debt?

Much worse than nothing we got increases, trillion plus deficits for years and that assumes growth and no recession. The OP is correct the tea baggers choked on loose pubes and decided Trump and Congress can spend and tax cut till we are all taking wheel barrows full of cash to buy a bag of groceries. United States of Zimbabwe.

Just like the public. 30 Year mortgages - no problem. $100k College Debt - no problem. Max out credit cards - no problem. 5 year car loans - no problem. Even luxuries like boats and campers are bought on credit. Greedy fools do not realize one would be richer in the long run by living within one's means and avoid paying all that interest.

You are absolutely FOS.

Your idol and mentor repeatedly stated that debt could go to infinity provided that interest rates remained low.

Not one time did you counter that point. Not once.

Yet here we are.

I suspect Jazz is pulling our legs (or other body parts). The article is so retarded that a lefty who wrote it does not see that it is her, in fact, who is advocating for cancelling the Will of People (aka election of tRUMP), which seems like autocracy to me.

A few select quotes from that nonsense:

For months, we have been living with the very real threat of nuclear war with North Korea and the near-inevitability of irreversible and unmitigated climate change, made that much more catastrophic by the actions of the Trump Administration.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the election, they vowed to begin weekly demonstrations demanding impeachment....

the last does seem like autocratic solution - as opposed to democratic solution of coming up with an electable platform and convincing voters that YOUR candidate is better than the Orange Monster, which seems to me should not be too difficult given the antics of our Orange leader.

Just like how all the Nancy-boys suddenly became Russia hawks under Trump.

The hypocrisy is head spinning.

That said, I understand why Trump didn't want to touch deficits in his first term since all of the Democrat hacks will run adds of Trump throwing grandma off the cliff. Here is hoping he does something on it in his second term.

Yes if it turns out that Bernie and Mini-Mike are the front runners, it will means the Democratic font runners are not even Democrats. Bernie has held office a an Independent and Bloomberg only held office as a Republican mayor. Democrats may not be able to win the Dem primary. But then again, one could say Trump was not really a Republican when he won the Republican primary.
