I don’t do takeout from a sit down establishment. Most people I know don’t and will just get fast food or pizza. Even a place that does takeout likely has no clue what quantity of product to buy. They’ll overbuy and have a bunch of food rot losing even more money.

No one in the restaurant industry saw this coming. In the Midwest this is the absolute slowest time of year (Jan-April). Most are cashflow poor. A ton of non chain restaurants will fail in the next 30 days here in IL.

No one is accounting for sales tax either. Local muni’s in IL are going to get smashed. Without a car dealership or big industrial/commercial base, restaurants are a huge source of tax revenue. It’s the largest source in my town...

God the more I keep thinking about this the worse I think it’s going to be.

I hope you're right. I'm not feeling it..... This is pretty unprecedented stuff in modern times. WWII with the economy shifting to a war economy is probably the closest thing and this virus is killing the last of those people that remember it as we speak.

People really haven't been hit yet. People haven't had to start breaking into their 401k's to stay afloat. Governments haven't seen their revenue plummet because there's no sales taxes coming in from massive industries. Most only hope is that people were loose with cash prior and will come out of this spending like gang busters because they saved a ton by not getting Starbucks and other frivolous shit. All though it likely might make some people wake up to their spending habits, which could be a bad things for the economy.

The big problem is most small businesses are generally 30 days out of going under with no revenue or dramatically reduced revenue. Not sure how a lot of them survive this.

Today I “sheltered” in my car and drove up hwy1 to San Francisco.
There was plenty of parking near the Golden Gate and it was nice for taking pictures.
Chinatown was deserted, North Beach had a few people here and there, some pizza places were open, bubble tea and a taco place, so no problem finding food.
Union Square was deserted and eerie, just a nut yelling and a couple of homeless.
I think in a week people will start going out, in a couple of weeks people will wonder why this was imposed on them, and by the third week they will be pissed off at the whole thing and our nanny state.
It’s absurd that the government may give us $1000, but they have Trump over a barrel, if he vetoed it he would be called mean and insensitive to the poor.
A black female I know in S. Florida is pissed at a 9pm curfew in Palm Beach and blamed “whites trying to tell us what to do!”
