There is a link to Bloomberg

Do you recognize when you write "there is a link to Bloomberg" and then provide a link to some other website? A "link to Bloomberg" will have "Bloomberg.com" in it. Careful out there on the internets people. You'll get had!

Nothing ever changed. The way things had been there was the way it had always
been and if anything ever changed people generally took notice. I remember that
everyone was unquestionably conservative and always voted Republican no matter
what. I was raised this way. I was never given reasons why, but only that I
should ALWAYS vote Republican, which I did right up into my 20's.

I can relate to your story, although mine wasn't in the south, but the midwest. Watching the movie that I linked below kind of sums it up too:

The Village (2004 film) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Village_(2004_film)

The occupants of a small Pennsylvania village in 1897 live in fear of nameless creatures in the surrounding woods. They have constructed a large barrier of oil lanterns and watch towers that are constantly manned to keep watch for "Those We Don't Speak Of." It is explained that the villagers have a long-standing truce with the monsters; the villagers do not go into their woods, and the creatures do not enter their village.

I'm still waiting for that Obama moment that future presidents will recount in future presidential speeches, so far I haven't seen it.

That will marvel at how much patience he has exhibited when surrounded by a nation of idiots, and the jingoistic corporate yellow journalism that "informs" their collective primitive brains.

Unless we default on the debt, we will never restore the confidence of foreign investors who remember how fairly we treated them in 2006 with AAA MBS securities.

This is for Bigsby when I told him about the statues, Gog and Magog in the empire that stretches to the 4 corners of the earth, the British Empire. The 1000 years has passed, the time between the end of the Roman Empire and the beginning of the British Empire. The deception of the nations is that the NWO is good. It is not, it is BAD, EVIL:

7When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, 8and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore. 9And they came up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and devoured them.…

You didn't tell me anything about them. I clearly explained to you why what you were saying was, of course, complete nonsense. Why don't you just go back and reread that thread?

And get some help whilst you're at it.

If the Bible does not scare you, when written for your damned empire, only the judgement day will put fear into your heart.

Of course the bible doesn't scare me. Why should a book written by people who had little more knowledge about the world than cavemen decades after the supposed fantastical events took place scare me? I bet you scare your neighbours though.

And why is the purpose of your God to scare people? That must be very reassuring.

This wasn't funny, it shows how even if Hitler were to say those things, he would sound like the smartest guy in the room. And that's scary, that even Hitler can be made to seem to show even one degree + more on the Give-O-Fuckmeter, than Congress or Obama.

Since you are so chipper, can I borrow some money in your name too? So you can pay that back later too. I will also spend the borrowed money to buy stuff that you want to buy, bidding prices up before you buy.

It hasn't so far, but the problem of the gap between rich and everyone else could put the debt in jeopardy.

Who do you think pays for the lobbists that channel how the borrowed money gets spent? Towards whom do you think they direct the money flow? Government spending is the leading cause of wealth disparity.

Dude, I am only 14 years old. It has been a blast messing with you guys. Most of my material comes from listing to my parent talk about buying a home in SFBA for the past 10 years. I see their confusion and witnessed first had how realtors have treated them over the years. We bought a house finally in 2006 only to lose it in 2010. My parents have more self esteem than most and once they couldn't make the payment cause my Dad lost his job, we went to renting. They could have swatted for years, but they grew up better than most of the idiots around here. It seems like the SFBA is made up of people with little integrity and I see the same on these boards. A bunch of ambulance chasers trying to make money off the hardships of others. If I was king, I'd beat them with their own arms.

The are consequences for every decision and not chosing is a decision within and of itself.

Your response doesn't even make any sense in the context of my original post you quoted there. I'm not even vaguely kinda sorta arguing against individual responsibility!

The awful truth is in a busted economy you can work your butt off and go nowhere. And a busted economy is what we have now and have had for quite a while really. Luck will play a greater role than most any amount of hard work you could possibly do in a busted economy. Certainly more than you're willing to admit I bet.

That is why those charts showing productivity increasing while wages stagnate are so important. Proof positive that working harder and "taking responsibility" are anything but economic cure alls:

That is a national average BTW. There is nowhere to move to in the US that allows you to avoid the reality that chart shows.

mmmarvel says

Is it that they got involved in drugs or alcohol?

I love how you insinuate all the people who've been beat down economically or are underemployed in low paying crap jobs are somehow at fault or just watch TV all day or drunk/high or too stupid to figure out somehow they should go to college and get a degree.

Its like you're totally in denial of the recession/non-recovery that has persisted since 2008 and its effects on society and just want to blame the victim due to their supposed moral failings.
mmmarvel says

Unless you are handicap in some way.

You can be totally mentally and physically fit and still end up poor if your economy is busted. Much if not most of the world's population is mentally and physically fit but still poor as all hell because they live in 3rd World hell hole countries.

And in the US the middle class just keeps on shrinking, just like it has for the last few decades, and more and more people end up poor or in poverty. Trends like that have nothing to do with any sort of supposed moral failings and they cannot be corrected with hard work or any sort of individual responsibility.

The gap between rich and poor is contributed by that 17.3 trillion. However, it will go bad not so much because of the gap of the rich and poor but because of bad policies made by the government.

42767   Bigsby   2014 Feb 12, 9:49pm

You didn't answer my questions. Are you embarrassed by your beliefs?

1. Do you think that is why people speak different languages?
2. Do you think the earth is 6000 years old or thereabouts?
3. Do you think Noah built a boat and put all the world's animals on it?

And the bank to the central banks is called the tower of Basel.

Dun, Dun, duhhhhhhh. It's a tower. In Basel. What that has to do with your biblical splutterings is anyone's guess, or are you perhaps laughably conflating Babel and Basel?

42769   Bigsby   2014 Feb 12, 10:20pm

Did Noah build a boat that held all the world's animals?

bgamall4 says

Astronomers have observed that about every 30 years a star dies and explodes into a supernova (ICR September, 1998). So there should be hundreds of millions of supernovas. In fact, there are far less than hundreds of millions of supernovas. I say there were more supernovas in the beginning.

Putting aside that bit of utterly garbled reasoning, you actually think the earth is 6000 years old. Oh, dear.

You didn't answer the first question.

42770   Bigsby   2014 Feb 12, 10:23pm

You can't argue the supernova phenomenon. There simply aren't enough of them to prove an old earth.

You still haven't answered question one.

Yes I have. I believe the Tower of Babel account. I don't need to elaborate on the fact that there aren't enough supernovae to prove an old earth.

And what exactly demonstrates that the earth is 6000 years old?

And you are seriously saying that you believe that people speak different languages because a small group of people built a tower a few thousand years ago?

I guess that's all pretty representative of the kind of 'proof' you require to convince yourself of your conspiracy theories.

With not enough supernovae, what demonstrates that the earth is 4.5 billion years old? That is an insurmountable fact.

How about an absolute mountain of testable predictions and empirical evidence? What do you have for your 6000 year argument? A book written by a handful of individuals thousands of years after the supposed creation event. Hmmm...

bgamall4 says

Who are you to argue against God?

Someone with science on my side. And arguing against God has nothing to do with it. You can believe in God and still understand that the bible was written by PEOPLE, scientifically clueless people, and that much of what was written was clearly and obviously made up.

Do you believe everything in the bible

Inspired word of God. Paul said manstealing was a sin. He also had a Christian slave obey the law of the land. That does not mean Paul condoned slavery.

(Ephesians 6:5 NLT) Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.

(1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT) Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.

Clear condemnation right there. Or not.

Boomers buying a median house in 1980 would have paid 15% interest that cost nearly 3x then median income. That's a much higher percentage of median income than the current 4% interest on a house that is nearly 4x median income. 15% mortgage on a $150k (3x median income) house would be like $2000/mo

The math is correct (probably about $1900/mo), but the median house in 1980 was probably more like $65-70K, not $150K.

dodgerfanjohn says

Per Cato institute study in 2011, 80% of US millionaires are self made and did not in fact inherit the money.

But doesn't "millionaires" including housing equity? Of course a large number of people with $1 million are self-made. Bump up the number to even $3-5 million, and you might have a different answer.
