A county clerk in Kentucky who was briefly jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples said on Friday that she and her family have switched to the Republican party because the Democrats no longer represented them.

Rowan County clerk Kim Davis, 50, who has said her beliefs as an Apostolic Christian prevent her from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, said they had changed parties last week. She was a long-time Democrat in eastern Kentucky.

“My husband and I had talked about it for quite a while and we came to the conclusion that the Democratic party left us a long time ago, so why were we hanging on?” she told Reuters in an interview at a hotel in Washington, where she has traveled to be feted at a Family Research Council event later on Friday.

Davis also said she did not foresee a problem with the current marriage licenses being issued by her office in Morehead, Kentucky. Critics have charged the altered licenses, which removed her name and title and the name of the county, violate an order issued by US district judge David Bunning and raise questions about their validity.

Just like the Racist Southern Democrats switched to the Republican party starting in the 60s.

The Republican Party will surely reject her, just as they refused entry to all those racists in the 1960s.

Hahahaha... They are just now figuring this out.

I saw her interviewed by Megyn Kelly and it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck sort of creepy.

She did say though that she'd been trying for some time to get some sort of exclusion. I don't recall the exact phrases but she essentially didn't want her name associated with any of it - and that was the issue that wouldn't have been rectified if one of her deputies did it initially. Apparently she was denied repeatedly and compared it to special treatment lots of other people get these days - such as for disabilities etc., I guess. If this is true I may give her some credit. Perhaps she's right and people should be given outs at work for 'religious' incompatibilities. Maybe religion should be treated as a disability.

5   FortWayne   2015 Sep 26, 11:12am

She should. Democrats have gone insane lately with social change forced onto everyone. Kim is the modern day Rosa Parks standing up for her freedom of religion.

Umm Kim is the modern day racist asking blacks to stand in the back of the bus. Blacks sitting with others changes the natural order of things and of course they should be separated and gays can't amrry.

Sigh so predictable-I am sure the racist pigs back then thought they had God on their side and were pure and white. Even they would not listen to a 4 time married woman.

Sad thing is us libertarians have nowhere to go. Repubs want to control different aspects of our life and dems want to control other aspects. freedom lovers have nowhere to go.

The institution of marriage is eroded if you turn it from family values, into anyone can marry anything just because they really want (love) to. Like George Carlyn said, our lives are too comfortable, so we let problems pile up until one day we won't be able to bear it when it all comes crashing down.

Gays should not marry. You can love whoever you want, you can't marry every thing over the arbitrary age of 18.

FortWayne says

The institution of marriage is already on a death spiral. Most children are born out of wedlock. Christians over time have accepted this, even though their religion bans sex outside of marriage, and likewise will accept gay marriage over time.

12   FortWayne   2015 Sep 26, 2:02pm

anonymous says

There you go again - get it - a Ronny R. for you - anyway who defined these values? Is gay marriage or some bimbo marrying for money the worst problem in this country right now? Divorce is a family value ?

All of those things are bad and we should work on trying to fix these, instead of piling more problems onto them. One wrong does not make another wrong a right.

As far as who defined these values? Our Judeo-Christian society defined those values, our laws and our morality is based right on that.

The eminazi crap is on the dems. They are responsible of the breakup of the American family. Equality means you work and get ahead-not spread your legs to the richest man and suck him dry till the kid turns 18 or marry him for 10 years and get half-when all you did was enjoy shopping trips to paris and sleep with the cabana boy.

14   Tenpoundbass   2015 Sep 26, 3:58pm

I also read today that Kentucky gained some 183,000 Republican voters since the 2008 election but only 24,000 Democrat voters.

The American Civil Liberties Union, which sued her on behalf of the couples she turned away, questioned the validity of the licenses, asked the judge to order her to reissue them or consider punishing her again.

Democrats make up 65 percent of the county's 14,000 registered voters, but Davis' switch is not a huge surprise because many Kentucky Democrats still represent the party of decades ago, which was long dominated by rural whites with conservative values. But the state's Democrats have grown frustrated with the national party's shift on social and environmental issues, embracing gay marriage and abortion rights while acknowledging climate change and supporting new emission standards for coal-fired power plants.

Registered Democrats still outnumber registered Republicans in Kentucky. But since 2008, when Barack Obama was elected president, Republicans have added 183,635 registered voters in Kentucky while Democrats have added 23,957 during the same time period.

From CH today at https://heartiste.wordpress.com/2015/09/26/diversity-proximity-sharia-law/ :

"

September 26, 2015 by CH
A national survey of Muslims living in America found that:

a majority (51%) agreed that “Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to shariah.” When that question was put to the broader U.S. population, the overwhelming majority held that shariah should not displace the U.S. Constitution (86% to 2%).

Ben Carson said nothing wrong.

CAIR mau maus are a fifth column in America. Hoax bomb maker Ahmud and his family, and those like him, as well as the anti-White equalist leftoid media which provides a favorable platform for their America-loathing agit-prop, are bad news. Letting them into this country by the millions is a mistake we will pay for dearly in time.

But hey, Colbert is on to snark about Kim Davis so have a laugh and slip into the recline position, everything’s gonna be alright for one more day.

"

I have to agree with that. we all know Kim was going against the law and therefore got punished swiftly according to the law. No issues here, nobody was hurt or otherwise significantly disadvantaged (you're not having any real problems if not being able to get married right this minute is your biggest concern). Yet the media can't stop talking about and ridiculing a nobody (Davis) whose case was handled swiftly. Meanwhile we have real problems everywhere in the world, such as parallel legal systems, beatings, rape because of far worse ideologies as someone who thinks gay people should not get married, and nobody gives a fuck, the media is silent and the social justice wankers cheer everyone arriving in the west with an ideology that is diametrically opposed to western tradition and culture.

16   epitaph   2015 Sep 27, 1:18pm

What the irony and pants on head stupidity is the double standards we set here in America to minorities and people of different religions. We can't have any kind of reference to Jesus Christ in schools, but we allow Muslims time to pray to Mecca every day. Kids can't bring knives to school, unless they are Sikh. Black people are allowed to be racist pricks all day long, but if a white person says the word nigger they get to spend half the day on msnbc being publicly shamed. This is truly the end of times for western society. We should let our mistakes serve as warnings to future generations that multiculturalism doesn't work.

Being gay is genetic. You cannot wake up one day and say ........I'm gonna be bad and have sex with another man. You cannot get sexually aroused by another man, if you are not gay. Almost all societies have discriminated gays to affect a change in behavior, which never worked. We live in a world that is quickly embracing secularism. What gays do, has no effect on our lifestyle, just let them be.

That's like saying being a murderer is genetic, as well as rape. That's not an excuse for socially undesirable behavior.

Besides homosexuality just like everything else can be taught. It isn't as genetic as liberals like to sell it to be, because if it was than show me the gene that they have that makes them go gay, science is advanced they can pinpoint those things. But there isn't a gay gene, because it's not genetic, it's learned. It's pure basic perversion and stupidity. Just like drugs and alcohol and other stupid crap, some asshole makes it sounds cool on tv and sheep do the same.

FortWayne, there has to be a genetic component to this. If I saw a complete act of male gay sex, I would be disgusted, turned off, and may not get an erection for a whole damn month. If I see 2 lesbians go at it, I get an erection in 10 seconds.

Gay gene discovery has good and bad implications
The finding that male homosexuality has a strong genetic component should be a boon for gay rights – but it could backfire

23   FortWayne   2015 Sep 27, 8:31pm

It's a good article. Sounds like they are discussing the "what if it is a gene and not a life style choice." It's an interesting philosophical what if. If the gene is found, we as society would be obligated to fix the gene through medicine.

I really don't think they will ever find a gene, because I truly believe it is a lifestyle choice and no such gene exists. If poor nations have a lot less of it, while wealthy nations like ours (where people are born out of their own mind with too much wealth and drugs), it's a sign that it's a learned lifestyle choice. Otherwise the percentages of it would be quite equal among all nations.

Here is an interesting thought. I'd be just as equally disgusted by the former, however latter would also disgust me. I wonder if that's generational, raised Catholic we were just raised to think such behavior as terrible.

And it's why it might be that our society on that slippery slope to hell. Food for thought. In history books it's well documented, Roman empire got too prosperous, and family values were all but gone. I remember learning about this in College and being completely terrified of this happening in America. There were men renting boys, because that was a sign of dominance and wealth in that society. Prostitution was plenty, and society fell apart because no normal person cared to work to improve it, for it was not a society worth working/fighting for.

I know I shouldn't but what the hell - drugs and alcohol like in abuse/abuser/addict/alcoholic are a learned behavior because someone saw something or someone else and thought it was "cool" ? The grade schools must be filled with young malleable minds whose dreams when they grow up are to be addicted to something.....

Yes young minds can be taught to believe anything and everything. It's why some people grow up morally right, and some grow up like Bernie Madoff who think living a life of theft and fraud is totally acceptable. Everything is that way, alcohol, drugs, homosexuality, everything.

Someone can learn not be an insufferable bitch provided their is sufficient motivation (reward) but I would venture that even this is only window dressing and the real persona lies in wait.

People have a whole subset of personalities and instincts controlled by our genes. We have an ability to do bad things, and an ability to do good things. We are also prone to brain washing, which can bring out the best in us or the worst in us.

I suspect that the guaranteed student loan program becomes (along with religious organizations' tax exempt status) a mechanism by which government is used to subsidize religious indoctrination rather than education. Certain Vatican-dominated institutions have been notorious for producing phony sophistry dressed up in the guise of science, and I wonder if they have been trying to revise history the same way, or if this came from one of the newer competitors (Oral Roberts "Liberty" "University" etc.).

It's coming to the television near you. I saw a John Oliver episode, it was the one on college debt, at the end he asked Americans to have more gay sex. Think about it, a man on television telling Americans, fairly young and stupid probably to go have more homosexual sex. And the end result will be that people who want to have gay sex will have gay sex. I'm not worried, I won't turn gay. You shouldn't worry either if you're not already gay. I'm pretty sure non-gay people won't feel pressured into having gay sex. It'll never be our patriotic duty. Unless, or course. You're already gay.
