But men have a chemical biological blinder on that makes it impossible for them to see this. They have this image of beautify and perfection that they see when they look upon a member of the opposite. Typically this image wears off by middle-age and women are aware of this as well, thats why they spend their 20s and 30s getting men to agree to financial and legal liabilities that essentially get them into a trap for life. Society and the state are in full support of this program.

Oh ... how wrong you are. Vegas is symbolic of the nouveau riche mentality, a lot of cash burned but for ordinary services, just to be in some gaudy hotels in the middle of an over-lit desert wasteland.

Montreal QC is the best kept open secret of the northeast. If you spend similar amounts of cash (and of course you do your homework a little bit), the quality of fun will be a lot more and you get all the enmities of a low crime, first world city.

As long as the basics include staying indoors 4 months a year. I like vegas I've spent a lot of time there, but I could never live in the low desert heat. Reno on the other hand rocks. Much more reasonable weather, much smaller more manegeble city , and you have the sierra mountains/lake tahoe literally in the back yard.

The same applies to QC. I really prefer the much smaller Quebec City to Montreal for my dose of north american style french culture. Unfortunately my learned mostly in bars after lots of drinking complete with that horrible languedoc/ camargue accent (the one where you add an emphasized g to the end of every word that ends in n "à demang" "quatre-vang" "vang rouge") 4th grade french is pretty much a foreign language in QC. They speak a very very different version of french.

I was always pretty good at puzzles. I like figuring things out. And throw on top the fact that for several years I was hiding an extra pet from the landlord. So, my choices were to fix it myself, live with it broken, or get caught having two cats when I was only allowed one (not my fault... it was a stray that showed up on my balcony with a broken leg. After I fixed him, I couldn't give him up.)

True, that's why I'd advise not to get married with a prenup but simply cohabitate (while avoiding states with common law marriage) with reviewed and mutually agreed upon contracts. There is no 100% foolproof method, but with this you usually weed out the worst.

See above, there's a sliding scale of risk/financial damage (married w/o prenup, married w/ prenup, not married but cohabitating with contract, not married and not cohabitating with contract etc.). Yes, kids complicate the situation again not in favor of the man, but if you follow the above you usually weed out the worst and chances are better for an amicable agreement. Child support/alimony can be steep, but if you have/make lots of appreciating assets/investments, you fare much better financially than with marriage. If this is still too much risk, you have to take one of the entirely different avenues.. ;)
