Did he deserve to die? Was lying on the ground face down repeating 'I can't breath.' too threatening for the 8 LEOs on scene?

The two situations were apples and oranges. The cops in NY were acting on "group think", and incapable of reading the obvious, Garner was not a threat anyone could see that. If you can't read people better than that you should not be a cop.

Situations are different, if they would have shot and killed Rodney King, I would have said yup righteous shoot.

This begs the question is O's legislation requiring body cameras on cops a good idea?

No cop who writes tickets for selling smokes would take on, much less approach, anyone that could in any way possibly be a threat. These kinds of maggots are the type to Taze people into cardiac arrest and then call in back up and shoot the perp when his eye moves.

HEAD SHOTS!, IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!

smokes cause cancer. the perp was killing people.
case closed.

I learned that in 3rd grade when we were discussing american rivers...

FortWayne says

We learned that we are a divided nation

31   RWSGFY   2014 Dec 4, 2:16am

We learned to not steal cigars, not to walk in the middle of the road and not to punch police officers who tell you to use sidewalk. But we kinda knew all these things already, so nothing new, really.

32   Tenpoundbass   2014 Dec 4, 3:41am

... a good cop will wait to get shot by the perpetrator first then ask questions later.

and Michael Brown finally learned it the hard way...

I will say one thing for him, he had the decency to remove himself from the gene pool.

Smell that libertarian disrespect for authority!

(At least I think it's there somewhere...)

"Cops... authority figures... so... so... sexy. Mmm."

The rest of Ferguson are slow learners. They still don't get it.

Those are the new rules. There is no way of telling if the poor innocent criminal wants to kill the cop unless he shoots first.

LOL. No one in Ferguson has ever been in there. Their career begins and ends in the streets.

I got pulled over when I was riding my Kawasaki through the Mojave desert at about 140 MPH. The police converged on me and as soon as I saw the lights I pulled over and stopped.

They should be taking you straight to jail.

I don't think so, the Mojave desert? It was a residential neighborhood...

My understanding is if you are going more than 100mph or something like that, they take you straight to jail.

I too was not shot.

But I was young and acting stupid. Had I handled myself differently I probably would have had sore wrists at the minimum.

It's truly amazing that when you act civilized with police, you end up living.... There must be something to that...

As a libertarian I strongly dislike the idea of police shooting anyone who doesn't bend over to their will. That's much more government authority than I like in my life.

I don't know what happened in Ferguson, but Eric Garner was murdered right on camera and police got away with it. We are just moving more and more toward becoming some fascist police state.

There is fault on both sides of this one.

But the overarching problem is that city of NY is charging exorbitant taxes on cigarettes. Other contributing factors are Minimum wage law, Davis Bacon laws, Affirmative Action, ridiculous licencing fees, ridiculous regulations, welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing, etc etc

I have always questioned if Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton were really preachers, since they
have no church.

When I heard Sharpton was a guest preacher at a nearby black church, I decided to check him out in person, and see what it was all about.

I sat down and the reverend came up to me -- I don't know why but maybe it was because I was the only white person in the church. He laid his hands on my hand and said: "By the will of Jesus the Lord All Mighty, and the will of God, you will walk today."

I told him I was not paralyzed. He came back and laid his hands on me again, and repeated the same thing. Again I told him there is nothing wrong with me.

After the sermon I stepped outside. Lo and behold, my car had been stolen!

That's Ok. The money will be used for good purposes - drugs, alcohol, prostitutes and financing 7-11 robberies.

all these deaths due to resisted arrests.
solution: animal entrapment devices.
designed to safely subdue living flesh without harm.
every cop car should have a variety pack...

What the media ISN'T telling you about Garner is that he was a habitual felon, with dozens of arrests, several for the same thing these cops were trying to arrest him for the day he died.

Doesn't give cops a right to kill a man. On this issue for me there are just two sides. Either we as people have rights under the bill of rights, or government has them and can take them away any moment. Obviously I prefer weak government where we have rights instead.

Government policing is a slippery slope, today they kill a black guy, tomorrow they'll kill a white guy. And if there is no punishment, the line will keep on moving.

it's scary to think WHY someone would be investing in something like this.

Oh, give it up already with the "cops killed a man" mantra...

Garner's overweight fat body killed him while he was NOT following the directions from the cops and was resisting arrest.

Period.
