"Bystander Shot by Undercover Police"

This is the perfect example of why a "well-armed" society is not necessarily safer from criminals and crazies.
People on both sides of the gun argument love to argue, by sheer force of ideology, that their side would result in fewer deaths. In reality, these things can be measured and must be measured scientifically. Anecdotal evidence and gut feelings don't mean shit.
More.Range.Time.
While back I was IPSC competitor, rangemaster, and course designer. I practiced at minimum weekly with:
Colt 1911 in .45ACP
Glock 22 in .40S&W
assortment of rifles and shotguns over the years, mostly AR-15 and Bennelli Super-90.
Not that I really believe "combat pistol" training gives anything like a guaranteed "winning edge" in an actual gunfight, but it's better than nothing at all. My gun-collecting relatives and Facebook friends, more seem to like to post on Facebook how "Obongo breathed a word about gun control, I'm gonna run down and spend my paycheck on another pallet of high-cap magazines and AR receivers!". Haven't seen a one doing regular posts about their range time.

Which puts you in the .1% of handgun owners that can hit the broad side of a barn.
The citizen did pick up his brass. I guess an armed society is polite.

I could quickly and reliably put 2 rounds in the center of mass or upper, never clipping any no-shoot targets. We used outdoor ranges for monthly match and some were quite elaborate set-pieces worthy of any Hogan's Alley you've ever seen in a movie.
However I never deluded myself that my muscle memory and skill at competition, were the same thing as a real gunfight. My first impulse to carjacking would have been to remove myself and call 911.

But the solution to all crime problems is to have people who honestly, but erroneously, believe they are wyatt earp (who in real life mostly shot people in the back at very close range) in a shootout with the bad guys in a crowded space like a movie theatre. Why to you hate freedom? Are you a commie?

Plus the brass is court admissible evidence...
