And what exactly is "quality journalism"? The editorial perspective that serves the journalist's master?

80820   Ceffer   2017 Feb 11, 10:33am

Obama's books make good kindling and toilet paper. Most of them are sitting in one of Soros' warehouses where he stores them after buying them off the shelves. You can buy them by the long ton for 2 dollars a ton, now.

Book Deal: the modern age laundered political bribe.

Ohhh boy watch out, ironman is all butthurt because his god donny boy pulled this clusterfuck out of bannon's ass (ironman being the world's most pre imminent authority on pulling things out of and sticking things into asses) and got a slapdown by the courts. Next time your caregiver changes your diaper have them put some salve on it. You will feel much better.

I am so awed by your intimidation that after dinner I'll yawn, maybe.

When the President acts pursuant to an express or implied authorization of Congress, his authority is at its maximum, for it includes all that he possesses in his own right plus all that Congress can delegate. In these circumstances, and in these only, may he be said (for what it may be worth) to personify the federal sovereignty. If his act is held unconstitutional under these circumstances, it usually means that the Federal Government as an undivided whole lacks power. A seizure executed by the President pursuant to an Act of Congress would be supported by the strongest of presumptions and the widest latitude of judicial interpretation, and the burden of persuasion would rest heavily upon any who might attack it.

Youngstown v. Sawyer, 1952.

And yet the 9th did not look at any evidence or require Washington State to meet a high standard.

Instead, it imposed an insurmountable burden on the Executive empowered by delegated powers from Congress.

As I've said, this is going to come down to Federal Powers, because it's not just the Executive but Congress who delegated their immigration authority to him. It's really the judiciary deciding what powers the ENTIRE US Government has, and whether they should be second guessing the other TWO branches on Foreign and Immigration Affairs.

Sure, whatever you say dude. Overturning a presidential executive order certainly is a question of minor importance.

When was it overturned? They allowed the TRO to continue. They did not hold Washington State to a very high standard, nor did they explain why importing cheap contract Professors and full tuition paying foreign (rich, not average or pool) students for the State University system outweighs the President's Congress-granted explicit powers on National Security.

Building an entire article to defame a politician or policy you don't agree with, based on a high ranking anonymous source.

30 years ago, an Editor would have laughed a journalist out of the office for presenting an article lacking in anything but a single anonymous source.

Today they say "Bring me the head of Open Borders opponents. Find an anonymous source to 'back up' the claim."

80826   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Feb 11, 12:58pm

Wikipedia itself is an unreliable source.

Oh, the irony of Ironman talking about fake news killing people's minds. Does Ironman still have a mind to waste?

You are one of the few true believers here on Patnet that doesn't fully gulp down the biased left wing sources.

I'll remind for instance that the Pink panther and I forget who else recently dismissed the Breitbart articles I posted WHERE THERE WAS VIDEO ACCOMPANYING ONE AND DIRECT FULL IN CONTEXT QUOTE IN THE OTHER. Literally nothing was opinion in those articles but they were summarily dismissed as bs because it's Breitbart, which incredibly proves to be more reliable in some cases than the msm. So that's who you are dealing with on the left...many who are so msnbheehaw'ed that they refuse direct factual evidence including video recorded incidents.

That's not even addressing the plethora of recent fake left accounts that continuously spew all over Pat net with demonstrably "fake" news.

http://truepundit.com/white-house-trump-is-personally-paying-for-japanese-pms-trip-to-mar-a-lago/

President Donald Trump will personally pay for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to visit his private residence inMar-a-Lago, Florida this weekend, the White House says. Abe and several other Japanese officials will arrive Friday for a meeting at the White House with Trump and members of his team. After the meeting in Washington, D.C., the two heads of state will travel to Florida. There were some early concerns about who would pay for what, but officials are now saying that Trumpwill personallypay for the prime ministers trip.

In January 2005, the same month he joined the Senate, he got approval from its ethics committee for a $1.9 million advance against royalties with Random House for two non-fiction books and one children’s book .... ... In the two weeks before he was inaugurated as the 44th president, Obama reworked his book deals.

sounds like using one's political influence to cash in, right?

"selling books" is one of the oldest forms of money under the table.

1. do favors while in office for criminals.
2. write some garbage books.
3. criminals set up fake online bookstores and order tons of these garbage books then burn them.
4. the perfect crime. it's both bribery and money laundering all in once.

RIght. Just happened to coincidentally be very profitable for the publishers too. But he didn't get the book deals because of expectations of profit. IT was a bribe ?

Interesting fantasy life you lead. Makes sense, becasue it's not like Obama is charasmatic, or that he writes well, or that he was was well liked by a large swath of Americans.

THe truth must be that everyone watches fox news and hates Obama and love Sean Hannity and Trump. Hence the only way he could have sold so many books was by criminal enterprise.

THe also hire a lot of children in third world countries to click on you tube posts of OBamas correspondence dinner speeches too, right ?

Tatty do you EVER read further up a thread or just jump in at the bottom? You make yourself look like a flaming idiot.

No, Ironman, it is ALWAYS you that looks like the idiot.

Dreams of my Father was written in 1995 and rereleased in 2004. In 2007, the year before he was President, Obama made $4.2MM from book sales. In 2006, he made $1MM in book sales.

Now, if you're arguing that he was well known because he was in politics then I'll agree with that. But that is NOT using influence.

It should have been obvious that I was responding to the comments I quoted. But yes, you're right, I did not see the point you were trying to make, becasue it's that stupid. Well, actually a combination of stupid and dishonest.

The proceeds of, "Of thee I sing," went to scholarships for the children of fallen U.S soldiers. As for profits from books written before that ? It's not the same. I can't believe that even you think that a single liberal was ever going to complain about "Art of the Deal" profits that occurred as a result of book sales that happened after Trump ran for president or became president.

Nice try dimbulb, but massive FAIL !

I guess you missed this part:

Ironman says

In the two weeks before he was inaugurated as the 44th president, Obama reworked his book deals. He agreed not to publish another non-fiction book during his time in office, while signing a $500,000 advance for a young adult version of Dreams From My Father.

Nope--I saw that part. How does that imply any influence. In fact, it shows he did NOT use influence--the opposite of what you think.

Ironman says

Then there's this:

Ironman says

Over the next eight years, the Obamas made $10.8 million.

Hey Tatty, since you (and Marcus) have reading comprehension issues, here it is in pictorial form, for the simple minds:

-

Yep--the books he had already written sold well. Again--no influence.

80858   marcus   2017 Feb 12, 8:48am

Ironman says

The books increased sales volumes after becoming President don't matter??

Really??

If he or his people were hawking them or tweeting promotions of them, then you might almost have a point. What would you have him do ?
