Trump Flips On Five Core Campaign Promises In Under 24 Hours

"Blink, and you missed Trump's blistering, seamless transformation into a mainstream politician.

In the span of just a few hours, President Trump flipped to new positions on several core policy issues, backing off on no less than five repeated campaign promises.

In a WSJ interview and a subsequent press conference, Trump either shifted or completely reversed positions on a number of foreign and economic policy decisions, including the fate of the US Dollar, how to handle China and the future of the chair of the Federal Reserve."

1) China is not NOW currency manipulator (as of today)

2) US Dollar is NOW too strong (as of today)

3) NATO is not NOW obsolete (as of today)

4) We need to remove Assad from power (and let ISIS have another territory)

5) Federal Reserve and Janet Yellen are bigly GREAT (what with Goldman Sachs surrounding Trump with its sucubus and tentacles).

I could go on and list the rest, but it's rote.

Suffice it today, the swamp drained con-man Trump, Trump has even NOW turned on Bannon, while giving power to the Goldman Sachs-Kushner-MIC neocon/globalist wing,

Enjoy the new boss, same as the old boss, while Ironman (in his DC/Marvel superhero underoos) keeps fapping to Trump's constant, unmitigated lies and bullshit.

And Patrick, self-alleged patron of free speech and anti-PC messaging, please do keep erasing threads, just because (insert whatever lame reason/justification here).

Did anyone else find it funny that FortWayne describes Trump as president as "back to normalcy"? That perfectly sums up FortWayne.

Trump lost the popular vote but won the electoral college vote by getting a huge swath of the interior of the U.S., including many low-education whites who hadn't voted in years, to believe his bullshit about bringing 1960s-era America back.

His campaign promises were a literal snake-oil slathered, unicorns & rainbows, magical elixir sales pitch worthy of PT Barnum, to the ears of these people (like Ironman).

Hillary is a complete'scumbag of the highest order, and American Politics has devolved into a false choice and kabuki theater regardless of who is propped up by TPTB, but Trump will fail to deliver on on any of his nonsensical rhetoric (and certainly not draining the swamp, balancing the budget, building any wall, reforming the tax code, or making healthcare better - he'll make it much worse for the majority of Americans).

Trump is a corrupt motherfucker who really is a bankrupt businessman whose enterprises were bailed out by Russian and Chinese sovereign funds (via state owned lenders).

We're going to have an economic crisis at least as bad as 2008-2010, and probably worse, on Trump's watch.

1 punitive strike in Syria didn't "fix" anything. Globalist cucks (like me) and the mainstream establishment like it because it returns American foreign policy toward "humanitarian interventionist" leanings.

Trump's most successful two days in office, amid an absolute shit storm of disgraceful embarrassment, are his very typical/boring speech to congress, and his "greatest hits from the 90s" style cruise missile strike on Syria.

We have nothing else, because this is an administration at the whim of the moment, with no overarching policy direction for the nation.

The smartest? The best? No. Quite the opposite Trump administration... believe me... believe me.

Trump isn't playing some 325th dimensional chess that mere-mortals cannot comprehend. He is only after brand and ego. He is rarely the smartest guy in the room, if ever, now.

If you don't wonder what Trump would have done by now had he gotten to use his first picks and Micheal Moore and some pickles smugglers in the 9th District court weren't the real power in America per the Media. If you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at the Media and Micheal Moore.

Two Months -

1 With opposition from both fake wings of his own party - RINOs and the Koch "Freedom Caucus" Wing
2. Opposition from the opposition party
3. MSM that flat out called for "Not normalizing the Trump presidency" and has been chasing chimeras since he was elected.
4. Absolutely no Honeymoon Period - which is really "unprecedented" and dangerous for democracy. Any other president would still have until the summer, with mostly positive coverage.

Ironman surrenders. Trump cannot save shit. Obama may have laid the groundwork for what is to come, but it was precisely because he saved the economy from Bush's complete nightmare.

Further, I'd state Trump isn't even working on any of the real issues that hamper the economy right now.

How many of those simple down-home people are going to be pro Trump when the great unwinding happens? Very very few. Obama and Hillary are in the rear-view mirror now, despite however many times tRump and his talking heads want to pull them back in front.

This is Trump's shit show now. Own it Trumpets.

Tenpoundbass says

You see sedition. I see people desperately trying to save the institutions which make us America.

Government waste, or over stifling regulation isn't the blame here. You can begrudge bailing out the "too big to fail", but it is kind of like complaining we saved the whole plane, instead of just the seats. We need to build a new plane. Trump's working on that, right?

Right, and after 8 YEARS (instead of 2 MONTHS) where is the economy, besides bouncing along the bottom?

I think you are looking at the charts in the wrong way. This is a top. It may not be a top for wages or the middle/lower class bank accounts, but if you have ANY investments at all, you have experienced a 7 year run-up, in most cases.

This is insanely peak-ey feeling. (see first graphic below!)

Ironman says

At least you're consistent on which side to blame.... what a surprise!!!

A surprise that Bush lead us into a financial disaster, Obama hail-marry saved us with an uneven recovery (but provided a stable/if sluggish economy), and now Trump inherits weak positive growth but hastens a retreat by blunder and general ass-hattery ... yeah. That's the actual story.

It's nothing that will last. Trump is riding Obama's run up still. There is no substance there. Trump isn't doing anything to address any of the major domestic issues we have, or the imbalance in the economy, which you and I agree is present.

You can continue to defend him as you like, but it seems you don't think he is a savior at all, so I'm not sure what it is you voted for? Looks like you like ineffective cardboard in the shape of a President to me.

I'll give Trump even odds he outdoes Nixon as far as being considered worst US president ever. Yep, and ONLY 4 months in, and it is that easy to see he is going to be a bigly contender for that spot.

Liberals have been saying that Donald Trump was lying to the American people when he said that he could bring coal jobs back. Well, so far, he has delivered on his promise.

Since the low point in October 2016, and following years of painful layoffs in the mining industry, the mining sector has added 35,000 jobs.

There's more good news for the coal industry. Earlier this month, Peabody Energy — America's largest coal producer — moved out of bankruptcy, and its stock is actively trading again. Its market cap had sunk by almost 90% during Barack Obama's years in office. Arch Coal is also out of bankruptcy.

Study: Trump has eliminated $86B in regs

President Trump has saved taxpayers more than $86 billion in regulatory costs during his first three months in the White House, according to a new study from a conservative group.

The American Action Forum (AAF) points to several Obama-era regulations that Trump has either rolled back on his own or with the help of Republican lawmakers using the Congressional Review Act (CRA).

This includes the Education Department’s school accountability standards, the Environmental Protection Agency’s waters of the United States rule and the so-called “blacklisting” rule for government contractors.

These are just a few examples mentioned in the report. Since taking office, Trump and Congress have repealed 13 rules with the CRA. The CRA allows lawmakers to overturn recent rules they disapprove of with a simple majority in Congress, and send the action to the president for his signature.

“Just as there are fiscal costs for new significant rules, there can be savings from repealing old rules through comprehensive regulatory reform,” said Sam Batkins, director of regulatory policy at the AAF.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-launches-trade-probe-targeting-chinese-steel-163715335--finance.html

Trump launches trade probe targeting Chinese steel

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump launched an investigation on Thursday to determine whether Chinese and other foreign-made steel threatens U.S. national security, raising the possibility of new tariffs and triggering a rally in U.S. steel stocks.

At an Oval Office ceremony where he was surrounded by U.S. steel executives, Trump signed a memorandum ordering the Commerce Department to conduct a speedy probe into the impact of steel imports on the U.S. defense industrial base at a time when he is ordering new ships, planes and tanks to be built.

"Steel is critical to both our economy and our military. This is not an area where we can afford to become dependent on foreign countries," Trump said.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross cast the decision to initiate the probe as a response to Chinese exports of steel into the United States reaching the point where they now have 26 percent of the market.

Chinese steel imports are up nearly 20 percent in the early months of this year alone, he said.

Ross said Chinese steel exports have continued to rise "despite repeated Chinese claims that they were going to reduce their steel capacity when in fact they have been increasing it consistently."

"It's a very serious impact on the domestic industry," Ross said at a White House briefing with reporters.

He said if the U.S. steel industry is deemed to be suffering from too much steel imports, he will recommend retaliatory steps that could include tariffs to ensure that steel imports no longer threaten U.S. national security.

Trump signed a directive asking for a speedy probe under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 at a White House event that included chief executives of several U.S. steel companies. The law allows the president to impose restrictions on imports for reasons of national security.

News of the move triggered a rally for steel stocks, including Steel Dynamics Inc, AK Steel, US Steel, Nucor, Cliffs Natural Resources, and Allegheny Technologies.

Administration officials said there are national security implications from imports of steel alloys that are used in products such as the armor plating of ships and require a lot of expertise to create and produce.

The move is another step in Trump's "America First" policies in which he has tried to boost U.S. manufacturers and preserve American jobs. Trump won many votes in industrial Midwestern states like Michigan and Pennsylvania with a pledge to boost manufacturing and crack down on Chinese trade practices.

U.S. Steel said China and other countries that have exported steel to the United States have cost U.S. manufacturing tens of thousands of jobs.

“For too long, China and other nations have been conducting economic warfare against the American steel industry by subsidizing their steel industries, distorting global markets, and dumping excess steel into the United States. The effects have been staggering," a U.S. Steel statement said.

The Commerce Department will have 270 days to complete the probe. Ross said he expected it to be done much sooner. Trump's directive asked that the investigation be conducted with all deliberate speed. Ross, a former steel executive, said the investigation was "self-initiated."

The American Iron and Steel Institute, which lobbies on behalf of the industry, said it supports the White House move.

"Massive global steel overcapacity has resulted in record levels of dumped and subsidized foreign steel coming into the U.S. and the loss of nearly 14,000 steel jobs," said institute President Thomas Gibson in a statement.

"The administration launching this investigation is an impactful way to help address the serious threat posed by these unfair foreign trade practices."
