The owners of the NFL are reportedly considering a rule change that would make it mandatory for players to stand during the national anthem.

A league spokesman said that the owners would discuss the potential change during a meeting next week, Dow Jones reported.

In recent seasons, primarily black professional football players have knelt during the national anthem to protest racial inequality in the United States. The protests started after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last year began kneeling during the anthem to protest police mistreatment of black Americans.

Wait, how can the NFL do that, don't the players have "freedom of speech"??

.."Earlier Tuesday, President Donald Trump tweeted that tax laws should be changed so that the NFL doesn't get "massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country."

Ahhhh.... money (or lack of) talks where it counts!

We all know nearly every single poll in 2016 was dead wrong or else we'd have the Hag of Benghazi in charge.

Nope. Every single national poll had Hillary winning by ~2%. And she won by slightly more than 2%.

National polling was VERY accurate. Much more accurate than usual.

A few select state polls were off, mostly because of a timing issue where late deciding voters broke heavily for one candidate (Trump). It wasn't a sampling or polling issue, it was just a timing issue.

If you need a law to tell people to be patriotic, you are running a shitty organization.

Patriotism should be common sense.

Of course. If the facts don't agree with your narrative--FAKE NEWS!!!

When the facts agree with your narrative--they're FACTS, duh!!

Kind of like what Ben Rhodes said the other day:

If I like it, it's a protest where you stand for what you believe (sound of Trumpets, Angelic Chorus). If I don't like it, it's a culture war stunt.

So McGee--tell me again why it's bad for Google to "censor" it's employee and for YouTube to "censor" its videos, but it's good for the NFL monopoly to censor its employees?

So post an accurate poll, then

Why is this so impossible for you to do?

You just asked yourself, have you provided it yet?

I’m not the one calling all the polls fake news. You’re claiming they’re in accurate, so post one that is accurate or stfu

Y'all know what I think about this already:

If the NFL enacts the proposed rule, the NFL player's union should take the NFL to court, all the way to the supreme court, if necessary. And in SCOTUS, the NFL will loose. An employer cannot demand (compel, impose on) of employees to speak politically. The employees have freedom of expression, including the freedom not to express the opinion of the employer.

The end game of both is the same. Cultural Marxism will require economic Marxism to come to fruition

Another one who keeps spewing the same WRONG bullshit and ignores FACTS.

So tell us, how much will that Jemell chick win in court from ESPN?

I'm almost getting Tired of Winning. Antifa is just Antifascist, NFL is apolitical (LOL!), It wasn't "Both Sides" in Charlottesville, Weinstein (You Report Abuse, We'll Shut Up!), etc.

ESPN: "Requiring players to stand is like slavery".

What a joke that network is.

Imagine JEB!!!! being a doormat on each and every issue.

Here in the States, im not sure where you’re tallying wins from that list, but maybe if I lived 1000+ miles away from America, and only saw this unfolding from afar on twitter etc., maybe then I’d get what you were going on about

They absolutely do not have freedom of expression as far as their jobs w the NFL are concerned. They can say whatever they want, but the NFL can withhold paychecks (fine them) or fire them as they please. The player is free to quit and voice whatever opinion he wants OR he is free to voice his opinion and bear the penalty of the NFL's employment contract.

The NFL doesn’t have any problem with it, it’s just the Special Snowflakes Trumpcucks whinging about Americans doing the most American of things : peacefully protesting the government brutally murdering its citizens.

Who are you talking to?

The entire NFL situation is silly. Associating playing football w patriotism is a marketing tactic. Its silly. This marketing tactic is at odds w the social justice marketing tactic. The NFL is a cold, corporate beast that is blatantly virtue signalling to make money. It'd be refreshing to separate a game from any of that nonsense.

Unfortunately they've painted themselves into a corner. This is gonna get interesting

You’re demanding that the NFL players stop kneeling and you’re demanding that the NFL owners do something about it.

If you don’t like it stop watching football or stop going to the games. I can’t remember the last time I watched the Anthem before a game, do they even broadcast it? If so don’t watch for two minutes if you’re so triggered. Or pony up a few sheckles for Redzone channel, if they have that in your country

I think the NFL players are brats to kneel.

I think the NFL owners/admins are full of PR Bullshit when they try to dodge taking on the Kneeling by using Freedom of Speech.

For the goddamn upteenth time, the NFL fines and suspends players for saying Dammit, making hand gestures, wearing Cancer Awareness Eyeblack, and basically runs their lives. But on this one issue all of a sudden the NFL is all about FREEDOMZ (tm)? Bullshit PR to dodge dealing with the issue, I say.

The only government action I thought would be necessary is pulling their tax-free, and taxpayer subsidized, largess. There STILL is no reason the NFL should be tax free even when they stand for the pledge going forward.

Errc, do you realize that it just happened? That the NFL just gave in to the fans after sharp drops in viewership? Hence the celebratory mood?

The Fans pressured the heavily Taxpayer Subsidized, Government Endorsed NFL and the wealthy Team Owners, to give up trying to kiss SJW ass - all using their Freedom of Choice.

Because the difference is that Google employee was discussing with other employees company policies internally. While NFL ball chasing idiots were getting involved into national politics outside their organization while on the clock.

Really? You're going to claim that every single Hollywood actor with an opinion just happens to have the exact same opinion as their studio employers and every other actor?

Every single newscaster has the exact same opinion about everything?

Or could it possibly be that they don't express their true opinions because toeing the company line is required of the job?

The job of a newscaster or an actor IS to read the script placed in front of them.

It is not the job of NFL football players to participate in employer-mandated political ceremonies and express the political views of the owners. The same observation applies to almost any other job you can think of, except for, well, newscasters and actors.

Do you understand the difference?

Your argument (see original graph) is that it is ok for white people to kill unarmed black people, black people who were not a threat to anyone, because white people, on a per capita basis, kill fewer black people than black people do.

That's one of the most perverse interpretations of what constitutes justice that I have ever heard. It's like saying that we need not prosecute white people for killing black people because they white people have not filled their quota yet.

Can you grasp the sheer evil and stupidity of what you are saying? I doubt it, but give it a try.

OR if they are concerned w police brutality, how about any of the incidents involving white people? Oh that's right, f poor white people cause they have "privilege". Let's ignore the most scientific study done on the topic showing cops are more likely to shoot whites than blacks https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/07/13/why-a-massive-new-study-on-police-shootings-of-whites-and-blacks-is-so-controversial/?utm_term=.9f276a6462cf
AND lets ignore the fact that cops are now too scared to do their jobs properly in Chicago, thus allowing the murder rate of black men to skyrocket in Chicago. http://heyjackass.com/
Nah, fuck all the facts that could actually guide us to help people, and lets just boil it down to "fuck white people, cause racism."

Black people who murder black people get prosecuted and convicted.
Police that murder black people are not being prosecuted and convicted.

How about you tell us how many of these have been prosecuted and convicted?

If the identity of the murderer is known, and there is a videotape of the murder, yeah, I'd say pretty much 100% of black-on-black murders are prosecuted.

This is just more dumbassery from you. Are you really trying to argue that solved police-on-black murder cases should not be prosecuted because that very same police is not able to solve enough black-on-black murder cases? I guess so. Par for the course. You just painted yourself into yet another corner.
