Yes, if you come in legally.

I know Democrats tend to have an extremely tough time distinguishing between legal/illegal, but the difference is important.

Dems aren't pro-illegal immigration no matter how often Trump cultists make dishonest arguments.

Yes, Iowa City was a sanctuary city.

http://www.press-citizen.com/story/news/local/2017/01/25/trumps-sanctuary-city-order-affect-iowa-city/97065026/

and this is relevant to a murder in brooklyn iowa population 1400 how?

The news kept calling her a college student so I incorrectly assumed that's where the murder happened. Turns out Brooklyn is only 40 miles west of town. Do you not think a sanctuary city would result in more criminal behavior from illegals in the entire area? Where did the perp live? Not exactly a lot of details out there

Some Democrat voters may not be in favor of illegal immigration, but the majority of their politicians are, because they want the votes.

What changed? We dramatically increased our welfare systems and entitlements.

As Europe (and California) is quickly figuring out, you can have generous entitlement systems or open borders. You can't have both.

Good grief is right. You said thing have changed and we dramatically increased our spending. That doesn't happen without a law passing. You know this, right?

I'm asking which laws were passed that caused this dramatic uptick in spending.

Not going to do your homework.

If you are really not aware that America's welfare and entitlement system has DRAMATICALLY increased with the "New Deal" and Johnson's "War on Poverty" - let alone Bush Jr.s expansion of Medicare - you don't even have an 8th grade level grasp on history.

So, you're basically saying you made it up. Got it.

Next time just do a bit of research before making ridiculous statements like that.

And fyi-don't make me laugh with references to a law from 1930s causing the recent uptick

Let's see. I provided you a reputable link showing the dramatic increase in America's entitlement spending over the last 100 years.

Then you asked for specific laws. So I cited the New Deal, War on Poverty and expansion of Medicare - which are some of most consequential and most known laws ever passed in this country.

Seriously, is any of this stuff in debate?

It is in the eyes of a person who is so blinded that their party can do no wrong, its winning and I'm right at all costs.

And before he comes out with some bullshit saying the same, I think far more people in the middle and right have a lot of issues with their side that they are pissed off about that has nothing to do with winning, loosing, feelings, or anything to do with the left even if you remove the extremes.

My lord--this is just another example in the dishonest argument camp of Trump cultists. Let's recap.

Poster asked why all of the sudden we need a wall or ICE after not having it for 100+ years. You responded the welfare benefits have increased dramatically.
I asked when that happened. Eventually you said there were laws passed 80 years ago. I guess it takes illegals 4 generations to get the message, huh?

Not to mention that illegals don't qualify for the majority of the welfare aid anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's the same Democratic Party it was yesterday and it didn't change its name overnight. And it still endorses and supports illegal immigration by creating incentives to cross illegally and stay indefinitely because all the laws and policies they passed to this end are still on the books today. So the notion that Democrat party is not pro-illiegals is booooogus. They are most definitely, blatantly and openly pro-illegal.

OK which laws are those that create incentives to cross illegally? I'm assuming you don't mean the ones that are only available to US citizens.

Can't wait to see the Tump cultists explain away this one:

"DES MOINES – Cristhian Rivera, the man accused in the death of a 20-year-old University of Iowa student, worked for an Iowa farm owned by the brother of a prominent Iowa Republican.
In a statement Tuesday night, Dane Lang, of Yarrabee Farms, said Rivera was an “employee in good standing” and was “shocked to hear” Rivera was implicated in the death of Mollie Tibbetts.
Dane Lang is related to Craig Lang, the former president of both the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation and the Iowa Board of Regents and a 2018 Republican candidate for state secretary of agriculture. Documents immediately reviewed by the Des Moines Register listed several owners of Yarrabee Farms, including Dane Lang and Eric Lang, Craig's brother."

Employing an illegal alien is against the law, last I checked. If you want to stop illegals from coming to the country--start by locking up Dan Lang. Don't tell me he didn't know...

Most of the entitlement spending increase happened after the 1960's with Johnson's War on Poverty programs.

Then we experienced the "Second Great Wave of Immigration" in the 1970's.

Yep, I'll bet you a big landowning Republican from Iowa was an Open-Borders advocate, or rather supportive of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" to commit "Acts of Love".

Yarrabee Farms, a poor amily farmer:

https://www.breitbart.com/economics/2018/08/22/iowa-public-tv-shows-yarrabee-farms-employer-of-mollie-tibbetts-alleged-killer/

The whole tone of the video is basically "We need more illegals and more guest worker programs, because we don't wanna pay decent wages, and the volume of milk production is too high." Well, then let the free market work and shut down some dairy farms until the price rises so it's stable. Y'know, like Cars, Pizza, Haircuts, and everything else.
52   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Aug 22, 3:26pm

Dane Lang admits he did NOT use E-Verify. Accused Illegal Immigrant Killer Rivera used a Fake ID.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/22/farm-that-hired-cristhian-rivera-mollie-tibbetts-suspected-killer-did-not-use-e-verify-system-official-says.html

Make E-Verify mandatory. I've used it. I takes no time at all. The company I worked for, HAD to use it as the outcome of a massive lawsuit filed by an executive raped ad murdered by an illegal immigrant.

"Name is Francesca Rodriguez, born 9/20/1981. Social Security Number 123-45-6789"
"Sorry, that number does don't match. It was issued to Olaf Hanson, 5/10/29, of Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, died 10/9/1998"

Illegals do get welfare. They send kids to public schools, drive on public roads, use utilities, etc... all free courtesy of taxpayers. Mothers get welfare and food stamps, I know several in our good old Reseda.
