And it still endorses and supports illegal immigration by creating incentives to cross illegally and stay indefinitely because all the laws and policies they passed to this end are still on the books today. Most of the entitlement spending increase happened after the 1960's with Johnson's War on Poverty programs.

Then we experienced the "Second Great Wave of Immigration" in the 1970's.
