When my dad died, we got one of those free military tombstones because he had been in the military and that's one of the military benefits. Absolutely certain we filled out the form correctly, but it came back with both his name misspelled and a date wrong. Holy cow, can we even really fight wars with a military like that?

Or maybe it was deliberate hostility by the tombstone engraver, who doesn't like his work. Or maybe he gets more money to do it over and was angling for a re-do.

Anyway, we ended up buying a normal tombstone and found that the private sector worked far better than the government did, probably because we could withhold payment if they screwed it up. For the "free" military tombstone, they already got our tax money, so what recourse is there? Complain to the government? Lol.
